Finding restaurnts close to our B&B, we decided to try a different one every day. The Tapas Barinn is a cozy little restaurant with an old style atmosphere. Went in for dinner. Friendly staff. When in Iceland you must try their local cuisine. Their "Icelandic...More

This sweet restaurant down town Reykjavik was quite expensive, but totally worth it! My friend and I had the nordic tapas with 7 dishes + dessert. They ranged from smoked puffin (actually really tender and good if you don't think of their sweet face..), the...More

It doesn't seem right to go to a Tapas bar in Reykjavik. However we had a wonderful time here. The service was great and the food was delicious. It may not have been classic spanish tapas but they use icelandic ingredients. We had a lot...More

Went here on a whim as we wanted to try some more 'local fare' and were not disappointed! They have numerous fixed menus along with a large variety of a la carte tapas. We ordered the 'The Hunter' which featured lobster tails, smoked salmon (my...More

Definitely a cozy place, with a well thought-out menu, but the music was WAY too loud! We almost had to shout to each other. Also the waiters cleared the table way too fast; we weren't even done eating the dishes before they suddenly disappeared. And...More

We went here to indulge in the Icelandic feast they offer. Whilst the food was decent it was exceptionally small (even for tapas). We were sat in the back room where their was a complete lack of atmosphere (only 2 couples) which was disappointing given...More

Perfect meal for our last night in Iceland. Wonderfully varied menu with many unique items. We chose not to eat the whale or puffin due to just finishing a whale/puffin watching tour, but we did try some other dishes you can't find anywhere else. Service...More

TapasBarinn is an extremely lively restaurant where Spanish tapas tradition meets the freshest Icelandic ingredients. It is located in a cellar at Vesturgata 3 in Reykjavik's central. The menu at TapasBarinn offers over 50 different meat, fish and vegetable dishes so you can take your time and experiment various flavour combinations. A must try is the Icelandic gourmet feast which is a great way to taste the best of Icelandic produce in one meal. The restaurant has been open since the year 2000 and has become a local favourite. It has the only kitchen in Reykjavík that is open 23:30 on weekdays and 01:00 on weekends. The breezy atmosphere and the Spanish effects in the decorations make TapasBarinn ideal for an enjoyable evening, a true ray of sunshine in downtown Reykjavík.
