Moving from the very spesial atmosphere in the old grocers private home, was a miss. All the old atmosphere that was there is gone.

Romantic restaurant in an old house by the duck pond. Service was great and the food was fresh and very good. Seafood was superb. Good wine list. The real draw for this venue is it's ambiance. .The food is very good...Enjoyed the experience and especially the Puffin!

Enjoyed a very lovely dinner in a beautiful setting. Walked from Hotel Alda. Had a wonderful view of the lake. Apparently it is full of ice skaters in the winter. Dinner was superb. First course a salmon soup, followed by salad with smoked salmon and a bit of horseradish. Third course was a wonderful white fish with a very tasty... More

We had booked in advance for a family meal of 7 on a Saturday evening. Booking was easy and our host made sure we had correct new address. We were made welcome, lovely table and the view setting wonderful. We had a good but not exceptional meal, the wine good, the children welcomed. But there were only two other couples... More

This restaurant is in a fantastic location with views looking over a duck pond. The food wasn't the best. Small portions and the main course was served freezing.

The main draw of this restaurant is definitely the location - overlooking the water by city hall you can bird watch while enjoying a good meal in pleasant surroundings. The restaurant has the feel of your grandmother's living room despite being inside the modern city hall building, and combined with the small number of tables, the dining experience feels cozy... Vid Tjornina used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Reykjavik. It had a charming eclectic decor in a lovely old house. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Not any more. The restaurant has moved just a few dozen meters to the Reykjavik City Hall. Yes, the view over the pond is nicer than the minimal view from the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed this dinner on our last evening in Iceland after a 16 day self drive around the island. We had the five course dinner with a bottle of sparkling wine. Not only were the dishes excellent but the owner, Laufar, gave us a personal explanation of how his mother opened the original restaurant a few decades ago. We... More

The menu had only 2 possibilities for each course, but food was fantastic. Langoustine with fennel as first course especially good. Fish and lamb main course excellent. Dessert subtle and smart. This was our splurge dinner and worth every kroner. Highy recommended!

The menu is limited to 2 selections a fish and meat we have the local fish and it was exquisite! Not only did it taste great the presentation was awesome. It's small and we got there no reservation and lucked out to get a table by the water. Dessert was beautiful, fresh and light .

We have just moved our restaurant after 27 years. We are now located inside the City Hall Building which is located in the lake right downtown in Reykajvik. We opened our restaurant at our old location ,which is only 1 min away from the City Hall, in 1986 and we are a family owned restaurant, with the same owners since 1986.
