I must admit that I discovered Babalu 6 years ago and it's a staple of my Reykjavik experience. What was once a little second floor hideaway with homemade desserts, board games and heavenly lattes has evolved into a proper cafe and the food does not disappoint. We enjoyed a vegetarian chili that was hearty with a yummy combination of spices... More

Cannot say enough good about this place. Super friendly staff. Great food. Muffins and pananis. Incredible portions. Such a good change of pace. Nice and cozy! Stop by if you're looking for breakfast or lunch!

This place has extended now and offers a very unique atmosphere, drink your coffee in a living room of an old apartment :) This is quite unique but very normal for Reykjavik. Coffee is great, desserts are awesome and the staff is very friendly. Its a little bit expensive but the portions equal that out.

At lunch the place was very busy but we managed to get a booth. We each ordered a bowl of the lamb soup and were very disappointed. The soup was very watery, that is, thin with only a few pieces of lamb. Later in our trip we stopped at a road side diner and had a much much better lamb... More

We had a late lunch here. My wife had chocolate crepes, which she rated excellent. I had a bowl of vegetarian chili. The fellow at the counter had doubts whether I could finish the bowl, saying that even though the bowl was not very large, the chili was very filling. When I got the chili, I saw why. It was... Lovely, friendly cafe in central Reykjavik (near Hallgrímskirkja). The atmosphere is very, very cozy with slightly kitschy decor, free wifi and super friendly staff. The cakes were glorious (especially the Nutella cheesecake!) and I loved the chai latte :)

I stopped here with my daughter on the recommendation of a friend of hers. We had excellent tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Very cozy and eclectic cafe.

We stumbled upon this place while wandering around Reykjavik and were so pleased with everything about it that we went back a few days later. The staff was friendly, the prices are good (for Reykjavik), and the food is great. It's a quirky, fun place to grab a drink or meal with friends.

My wife and I just ate here after a long day of Iceland touring. The staff was very polite and the food was amazing and well priced. Not to mention the wait time was only 10 minutes (and the place was packed) We also thought the decorations were random and different and fresh change from the staleness of most eateries!... More
