Good Icelandic food, cafeteria-style. It tastes good and (for Iceland) is relatively inexpensive. Included in the cost of the main course (which comes with potato and veg) is the salad bar, bread, and two soups one of which is sweet (fruit) that they eat with...More

For our last day in Iceland we wanted to try an authentic restaurant with traditional Icelandic dishes. After a few online searches we came across Mulakaffi and boy, we were in for a surprise. The cheapest restaurant we encountered in Iceland, serving authentic food -...More

Found this restaurant from other reviewers on TA. Staying at Hilton and just a short walk around the corner. This is a cafeteria style restaurant. You get a tray, choose your entree and then pay. I had pork with white potatoes and my husband had...More

Superb local food at a reasonably price. Restaurant is only open Monday to Friday, What a pity its not opened on weekends. Very friendly environment and great food. Its mostly frequented by locals and that's a wonderful recommendation in itself.

One of the Hotel Island staff told us about this restaurant. It is not a tourist place, rather, it's where the locals go, including the police for their dinners--the best way to find genuine, home-made Icelandic food! The food is served cafeteria style; every day,...More

Excellent food, friendly service, generous portions and blissfully affordable. Approximately $25USD per person for a substantial meal- including dessert. Hours for dinner are from 5:30-8:00. No reservation needed. And if you are looking for the police, you'll find them here.

Mulakaffi won't win any awards for interior decor, cutting edge Icelandic cuisine or their wine cellar. That's not to say that you won't get a hot, filling and honest meal here, and not pay a lot (by Icelandic standards). You'll also get to dine with...More

This little gem was just around the corner from our hotel and we ate there the first evening. It seems to be a favourite haunt of the local police as quite a few came and went while we were there. A two course meal (soup...More

We actually ate here twice for dinner during a recent visit. It was located right next door to our hotel which was very convenient after a long day of tours. Lots of locals, including the local police. Not a lot of tourists. It's cafeteria style...More

We went on TA recommendation. As reviewed before, always full of Reykjavik Police, but not in a bad way :) Lamb was excellent, the lady serving us saw that the tray was nearly empty & instead of giving us what was left, brought out a...More

You can get seconds of whatever your main meal...so if you had fish the first time you cannot have meat as a second only more fish. Salad and soup all you can eat. We did not have drinks, only water, coffee is included.
