I went here twice during my short trip in Iceland! They only have a few selections, and I wish I was able to try them all!

I lived in Italy for 3 years and there are numerous places that say, "tastes like Italy" or "fresh from Italy" , whatnot, but this place lives up to the hype. The place is smaller, typical Italian style, quick and friendly service. Wide selection of...More

There are not many places that serve true Italian style pizza in Reykjavik, and Flatey is one of the hidden gems! Thin, delicious dough, fresh ingredients, and a perfect mix of classical pizza and "hip" combinations, like the hot and sweet Padrino, or the Nutella...More

The Pizzas are by far the best Pizzas in Iceland. You will have to be there before 18:00 otherwise you could expect to wait a hour for table. I really recommend the Pizzas, real Italian taste. The only downside is maybe lack of number of...More

Flatey was on my list when I came to Iceland and I wasn't disappointed. The pizzeria is busy almost every time but waiting 20minutes for pizza is worth it. The slices are very tasty, full of flavour and seasonings. You can choose from variety of...More

Found this place by accident and it was absolutely amazing. The pizza is some of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely not what I expected to be eating in Iceland! The restaurant was filled with locals and had a constant stream of people coming in....More

Great ambiance; pleasant staff. The pizza was tasty and hot. Mothers leave their babies in the strollers outside in front of the window (common in Iceland). Highly recommend when you’re in town and yearning for pizza.

This place is apparently known for its dough and how quickly the pizzas cook. We ordered two pizzas to split between four people. One was a prosciutto and arugula and the other was a mozzarella meatball and parmesan. They were both yummy! The crust is...More

We had Parma and Umberto to share between 3 of us. Both where good especially Umberto. The doe was soft and reminded me of a wery good pizza I had in Naples some years ago. We are coming back.

A very hip and busy pizza place focusing on the basic pizza. I would love some more variety on the menu.

Description
Neapolitan pizzeria - Downtown Reykjavik. Short cooking time, simple quality ingredients and fine workmanship are the marks of a Flatey pizza. The results are naturally flavourful and wholesome pizzas. Flatey draws inspiration from Neapolitan tradition, where simplicity comes first when selecting ingredients and cooking. In the regions surrounding Naples, traditional pizza artistry has practically remained unchanged since the 18th century. Margherita is the classic Neapolitan pizza, and a staff favourite here at Flatey. According to history, the first margherita was made in 1889 when baker Raffaele Esposito decorated a pizza to resemble the Italian flag in honor of queen Margherita di Savoia. He used tomatoes for red, mozzarella cheese for white and finally basil leaves for green.
