We have been traveling around and tasting Indian food almost everywhere in Europe. This restaurant looks very minimal from the outside but ones you taste the food its just magnificent. I have been going there quite often lately to taste the buffet and other dishes...from the menu and they never disappoint. Everything tastes authentic and they have nice service as well. If you are thinking of visiting an Indian restaurant in Tampere I would definitely recommend this one.More
If you’re in for Indian food - it doesn’t get any better. The restaurant could be have a better ambience and location. But if you are there for the food, you will be happy.
It was difficult to find a table at lunch time but it was worth it: a nice selection of warm Indian dishes and fresh salads and veggies to go with them. Very typical Indian flavours, and warm fresh naan bread to go with them. Great...for lunch!More
For years, this has been my favourite place to have lunch. It stands out of most of the Indian restaurants around. The variety of foods is maybe not the biggest but hey, you don´t need that many when they are so tasty! The staff are...friendly too which gives a big plus. I recommend big time!More

They have nice Buffet Menu to choose from. Apart from that, you can get a Veg Thali or even a Meat Thali. Or there is of course the Ala-carte to choose from. Price is also reasonable...
Bloody brilliant lunch from the menu. We had the chicken korma and chicken vindaloo. The korma was nice and creamy and just the right amount of coconut. The vindaloo had moist chicken and perfectly spiced. The plates were warm when the dishes were served. Friendly...service.More

The display of the 9,50€ lunch was not promising: two bowls of cabbage salad, one bowl of chicken sauce, one bowl of meatball (sic!) sauce, one bowl of chickenpea sauce, one bowl of the remains of deep fried fish (?), small pieces of naan (empty...all the time) and some pappadums. Normal plates, not the typical and practical metal trays. The red chicken sauce was okay but the convenience food meatballs were a shocker and so was the soggy, impossible-to-recognize -as-fish bits. One hour before the end of lunch hours most the bowls remained almost empty. The tables were covered with dull plastic cloths and the chairs were wobbly. What a sad experience, one can only wish that no one gets their first taste of "Indian" food there. Definitely never again.More
Decent buffet lunch and lovely people - very attentive and caring service. This is real Indian food and worth experiencing. Good value too. Will definitely visit again.
I came upon this place unintentionally and what a good find. I had a dal dish and I wish I could tell you exactly which one but none the less, it was some of the tastiest Indian cuisine I've had in some time. Based on...the traffic that started to trickle in during my meal, I'd say this is a popular Indian kitchen in Tampere and for good reason.More
This restaurant was the second one we visited in Tampere. My colleagues (3 ) and I enjoyed the meals that were ordered viz. butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, lamb rogan josh and chicken vindaloo. The meals were ordered with plain and garlic naan bread,with Mango lassi...chosen for drinks. Meals were well presented on 'candle heated ' stands which ensured that the meals were kept warm. I go to this restaurant quite frequently for lunch. The menu is pretty much the same every day: chicken curry, beef curry, vegetarian curry. The staff is nice and the food ia always good. I have not visited the place for ala carte dining.
2 veggie lunches at Taj this week. Only 9 euros. Both times very tasty. The waiter brought me fresh naan bread without asking. :) Me like.
I visited Taj Indian restaurant with my husband on Saturday evening. The location in Finlayson area, Siperia, was excellent because we were on a way to a cinema. Unfortunately, Taj was a big disappointment. We took a buffet meal which had a reasonable price (14,90...€ for one person). There were a couple of Indian main courses like lamb, pork, chicken and vegetables. Taste was ok (not anything very spicy but you could add chili by yourself) but most of the food was not warm enough (or you could even say that they were cold). In addition, some of the food baskets and pots remained empty the whole time we were eating. The service was unprofessional. We got water bottle after we asked for it (not brought to the table automatically), and after a while we asked also lassi and naan bread because we were told those are included to the buffet but there were not those anywhere. Then, the waitress brought those for us but if we wouldn't ask those, we would probably remained without those). I think this was the one and only time we eat in Taj Indian restaurant because there are so many more professional restaurants in Tampere, also with a reasonable pricing. If you like Indian food, I would definitely recommend Nanda Devi's buffet table instead of this!More
