A casual, hip and edgy vegetarian restaurant in the Grand Hotel. The food was sensational. Started with the fresh berry Kambutcha which was beyond delicious. The nettles were exceptional and the white asparagus with Morels and Truffles out of this world! Andréa, our server, couldn't have been nicer! Awesome evening.

You might not have guessed it, but this casuals and relaxed restaurant is located inside one of the most exclusive and luxuries hotels in Stockholm. It's a former two star Micheline restaurant who changed tracks and hopped on the trendy veggietrain. The dishes is meant to share and the menu is very simple (in a good way) and the courses... More

We had sky high expectations - a two star chef going vegan! And in this fab location!! But No WOW factor here. Very expensive (of course when it's Mathias Dahlgren) but most of the dishes were bland, unsophisticated and nothing new! Service ok but no more. Some fun unusual cocktails. We have had much better green food at other less... More

We came to this place with very high expectations because we have always been extremely well catered for in the places runned by Mr Dahlgren. This time he has turned most things up-side down. And we like it. The setting is very nordic cool but elegant. The service team was amazingly good: informative, no-nonsence, friendly without becoming too personal, and... More

Is this supposed to be an innovative top-notch vegetarian restaurant? Boring and immensely expensive for nothing exciting at all!! Save money and shred your own carrots topped with fish sauce and have a mozzarella and mango salad on the side. Ambience was refreshing and service good but that was about it!

We were very excited to try this after the excellent experiences at Mathias Dahlgren's previous restaurants. Unfortunately this was one big disappointment. Service was excellent, hence the two rating. On food only it is a one. The food was ok but not particularly impressive. However, it was amazingly expensive. A plate of shredded carrots for €20 is a good example.... More

Me and my partner booths enjoyed the really good service, we had cocktails which was different with tofu foam and their take on a GT, both good but a wee bit overpriced. The white funky house wine was on point! We had about 6 dishes to share and some where more exciting then others, the raw Vietnamese carrots was amazing.... More

I was so excited when i heard that Mathias Dahlgren was about to open Swedens first fine dining vegetarian restaurant... He is probably Swedens best chef, gold medal winner of Bocus Dór for example and lot´s of Michelin stars to his name. Finally, the last hurdles for the acceptance of vegetarian food will be kicked away. Me and a colleague... More

Sweden's most celebrated (?) chef closes down his 2-star dining room at the country's premier hotel to go for a vegetarian restaurant. Daring! And it works! Two or three courses per person is needed, and keep in mind to ask the servants for their advice on how to combine them and in what order. Excellent staff, the whole wine cellar... More

This is a totally new restaurant that opened February 13th this year, replacing the old "Matsalen" which got two Michelin stars last year. Same chef but totally different concept. A menu without meat and fish! ("lacto-ovo-vegetarian"). I was delighted to hear about Rutabaga and made a reservation for Friday, February 17. We were 5 guests, from Germany, Japan, US and... More

Description
Matsalen is a modern gastronomic restaurant. Our cuisine is based on using the best fresh produce available here and now in Sweden and other parts of the world, spiced with curiosity and inspiration from everything we encounter.

"The natural cuisine" is a menu that changes with nature and the seasons. We pair wine, beer and other beverages with each of the dishes we create.

All the producers we work with are meticulously selected, they produce something we like. Our menu and drink offering - like the fresh produce - are living and change with the time of the year.
