We happened upon Slingerbulten after we had tried to go to Brinken just down the street & it was closed (we are assuming due to summer). Like a lot of places in Gamla Stan, it offers traditional Swedish classics but here there is an emphasis on seafood. The main dishes (we had Skagen, Cod & Fish Soup) are great value for money & well made seafood however the bread & dessert (crème brulee is the only choice) are very disappointing. You are served in a relaxed pub setting with a green & white colour scheme. It was almost completely empty when we went which was useful given we dropped in last minute but of course meant a quieter atmosphere. Overall a decent option for tourists looking for something traditional that's not too expensive, especially if you like fish

For just 125 SEK, you can order a full size dish and while waiting, you get a whole buffet included in the price. It had many options from salad, potatoes and especially the bread was delicious. Even non-alcoholic drinks were included. We were surprised considering how expensive Stockholm usually is. So we decided to go there a second time, unfortunately past lunch time. For ~200 SEK, we got the same dish, but without the buffet and the drinks. A bit disappointed, but still 5 stars for the lunch.

Very well priced for Stockholm, my partner and I ordered a main each which roughly came to £26 all together. We did not have to spend on drinks as they had a lovely refillable cranberry juice for free. I would highly recommend the meatballs and mashed potato. It comes served with a delicious sauce and the meatballs were very well cooked. Excellent location, in the heart of Gamla Stan, a short walk from the Gamla Stan metro station and very easy to find. Staff are lovely and bilingual so communication was not an issue.

Was looking forward to a nice evening out with my wife and without the kids. Unfortunately Slingerbulten didn’t add the extra spice to the evening. Very average food. They missed my allergy and the food my wife got wasn’t good at all. The only reason for the rating being a three is because she could change her dish to something else without any additional charge. Can’t understand the high rating.

Thank you for your review we appreciate feedback like this , i apologise as I’m sorry you didn’t have as good an experience as most our guests do , about your allergy we take allergies very seriously and I do apologise if we didn’t get that right but promise to do so next time ! Your wife had ordered the pike perch which is very popular among locals and is a favourite on our menu but maybe not to your wife’s liking , all of our dishes are traditional classic recipes all homemade and maybe next time if you come back we can show you how good it is . but I do hope your wife enjoyed the complimentary dish given instead of the pike perch and your complimentary dessert as we had apologised . thanks again ,

Today, my wife and I decided to have lunch at Slingerbulten. Our experience started with sharing the Burrata and Tomato fondue, which we found enjoyable, although the portion size left us wanting a bit more. For our main course, we each ordered the Swedish meatballs, which we found to be tasty. The service we received was satisfactory - the staff was quick and moderately attentive. However, despite the restaurant having only two occupied tables, the waiter seated us right next to a loud group of girls. As a couple, we felt that this choice by the server was rather disappointing and it had a negative impact on the overall atmosphere. Regrettably, the final bill came as a surprise, amounting to 830 kr, including 2 beers and a 10% tip. To summarize, while the food and service were decent, we couldn't help but feel that the value for money was lacking.

My fiancée and I came here for lunch back in April. We had an amazing meal that was shockingly inexpensive and very hearty (which is always a bonus while in Stockholm). I would definitely get the meatballs if you have the opportunity. The staff are very friendly and helpful, although they can take a bit to take your order if the restaurant is very busy.

Staff was not friendly, unprofessional, and rude. Our waitress was not paying attention to us and we had to call her repeatedly to get her attention, she just ignored us half of the time despite clearly hearing us. She was chewing gum in a vulgar way and busy making very loud noises with the rest of the staff f (cleaning and sorting cutleries for an entire hour). At some stage the waitresses and the chef had a fight and it was so loud and unprofessional and the entire place was able to hear them fight and shout, the chef came out later on from the kitchen and had a loud chat with the staff again. We waited for 70minutes for our meals and they were mediocre at best. To top it off there is only 1 toilet and it was always busy, they did not have soap in the soap dispenser and were instead using a watered down hand sanitizer of some sort. Unprofessionally and negligently ran place both management wise and kitchen wise, it’s a real shame because they managed to ruin a restaurant that could have been amazing given its great location

If you want to try cod, salmon and elk combined with roasted potatoes and lingonberry sauce, you are in the right place! Very tasty dishes, fresh ingredients, big portions, and deep kindness of the staff. My parents and I loved the food and the wine too. I warmly recommend having dinner here if you are in Stockholm!

Went to the restaurant at lunch when they have a lunch menu. On the menu the famous swedish meatballs were on there and they were delicious! Price of drinks also very reasonable understanding how expensive alcohol in general is in sweden. Highle recommended

We Ordered meatballs for appetizers and it was very good. As for the main course; fish of the day and schnitzel, they were tasteless. The terrible part was the service. The staff were unorganized and unfriendly. The kitchen supposedly opens for dinner at 4:00 pm, so one would expect that the tables are set. Unfortunately they were not, the staff kept on setting up the tables while clients are in the restaurant. They were making a lot of noise cleaning up the cutlery. Besides, the staffers were shouting at each other in the kitchen, and the food took more than one hour to be served. Some serious management is needed; the experience ruined an otherwise very pleasant trip to the nordics. Not recommended at all.

Visited Slingerbulten for dinner today and it was great. We didn't have a reservation but the nice lady who was working gave us a table for an hour. The menu was a mix of some nordic dishes and traditional swedish dishes like meatballs. It was a shame that they didn't have the snail starter as I was looking forward to it. The food was great so kudos to the chef. The pricing was very reasonable and we spent around SEK1200 for a 2 course meal for 2 including drinks. Highly recommended.

Very good option to eat at a good price. The guide on a “free tour” recommended it to us for its meatballs. The restaurant offers only a few 4-5 dishes, and also you can serve salad, coffee, tea, water… The dishes are quite large and good, and depending on what you order it is between 12-15 euros, which in this city is super cheap

Despite being in the middle of Stockholm's tourist street, this place offers food that is quite affordable. You can serve yourself salad in a small buffet to accompany the main dishes that are really tasty. Also included in the price is coffee accompanied by some cookies. Totally recommended.

I went to this typical Swedish restaurant for lunch with my boyfriend. We ate their dish of meatballs with cucumbers, red fruits and mashed potatoes (a kind of mashed potatoes). It was also possible to take salad, bread, wasa, Russian salad from a small free buffet and to follow with iced tea, water and American coffee. The waitresses were kind and the prices were excellent: even taking a beer we spent €33 for two. Highly recommended!

I would say that it is one of the best quality-price restaurants we have been to: good, nice and cheap!! They have a very agile service since it is somewhere between a self-service and a regular restaurant: the diner goes to look for the cutlery, water, bread, salad, coffee, ... and the waiters only tell you They bring the dishes you have requested. We ordered some meatballs that were very good and a fried herring that I didn't like not so much because of the fish but because of the type of frying. The menu consists of 5 dishes to choose from and includes bread, water, salad and coffee for 155 SEK / menu.

Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
