When I am in Denmark I always go to LAGKAGEHUSET. Their rye bread is a must and I it freezes really well. The last space in my suitcase fills up nicely with rye bread from Lagkagehuset. If you have a sweet tooth, try the Strawberry tart. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. Delicious.

Full marks for this bakery. Truly defines fresh old school bakery. Great friendly staff, clean environment on the canal and most importantly fresh pastries that literally melt in your mouth. Highly recommended.

Lunch popped in for some lunch. Good choice of pastries, salads and baguettes. Nice atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Nice coffees too!

Amazingly we first discovered this chain in the UK when they were opening on the Haymarket. They do great coffee and a wonderful selection of bakeries.

Probably the best bang-for-your-buck bakery. You can find them almost everywhere in Central Copenhagen. Good service, outstanding variety of choice, quite cheap for what they offer too. Do pay attention to the 3x2 offers 🤓

Love the ease of the ticketing system (and thankfully they repeat the numbers in english) Not very clear of the system on first entry, but no big deal. Pastries are great, as you'd expect!

Take a number as soon as you walk in, and beware of the rude customers who will cut in with a wrong number when they call your number. We ordered a couple of pastries and mocha coffees, the pastries were very good but the coffee was okay. This a popular place and seems to have a following with a steady... More

Addictive, tasty, colorful, just amazing. Coffee is lovely even though yu will have to wait for a while.. The bakery is big at Christianshavn but you can find other smaller ones all around the town, central station and airport as well. They all serve amazing pastry, but also sandwiches, drinks and skyr with rye bread and berries. I went there... More

Stopped for lunch here when we arrived in Christianshavn. Had lovely sandwiches and fabulous strawberry cakes. We also bought pastries for breakfast and a fantastic Christianshavn Torte. ( I found a recipe for this and made it when I got home I was that impressed!) The cinnamon sanish were ace, and I was delighted that they had a CPH airport... More

Staying in Christianshavn

Neighbourhood Profile
Just across one of the many bridges from Indre By, you’ll find Christianshavn. An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.
