We had a lovely lunch here before we visited the museum. The menu seems to be mostly sandwiches and we do not eat wheat so we were limited to the dish of the day which was a meat and potato hash with an egg on top. It was okay but the meat was rather tough. The chocolate mousse for dessert... More

While Copenhagen is abundant with (very good) lunch restaurants that are at least a zillion years old (with many sporting peculiarities that they have served, of course, to a long line of literary giants, playwrights and politicians over the years), Cafe & Ølhalle is somehow refreshingly different. It is not an old café, but a café that purports to be... More

Service excellent: very friendly and warm staff. Food traditionally Danish but with a twist, and very good quality. The restaurant is part of the Workers Museum and is thus placed in a listed building. A must for a visitor in Copenhagen!

Lovely traditional food . I had the hot plate - beef and pork hash and my husband had an open sandwich . Big portions and very authentic . Good service . Limited wine list but good beer . The museum is very interesting too .

Cafe & Öl-halle is a historical site connected to the Danish working class, but nowadays it is slightly elitist - but well-liked and popular during the lunch hours. Good food.

An interesting experience; we had 2 cold meat salads served with bread and beer. The bread was served with butter and a spread that I can only describe as white pudding (an Irish thing). There was more meat than anything else in the salads; other than the garnish and dressing mine was just chicken and 3 mushrooms. It was all... More

Long list of the danish speciality "Smørebrød". E.g. rye bread with herring, salmon, meat cuts. Cosy atmosphere - 1930.

We had brunch here in August 2014 and it was so delicious. We had a platter (wooden) with all kinds of Danish delicacies including house made pate. I am not good at remembering food (I'm more the clothing type) but I remember the atmosphere was cozy and the service was excellent and the food was delicious. So was the beer... More

Without question our favorite lunch experience in Copenhagen. Olhalle (beer hall in Danish) is just across the street from the trendy Norreport food market. It serves traditional Danish food in a cozy, traditional setting at very reasonable prices. The Smörgåsbord we chose was outstanding. Duck Pate, Venison with Horseradish cream, Pickled Herring and Devilled Eggs were just some of the... More

Description
The historic restaurant of the Workers' Museum The restaurant in the museum's basement is the only scheduled basement bar-room in Copenhagen. Try the taste of history. The bill of fare has been brought back to the time around the turn of the 19th century. The historic rooms have been restored to their 1892 appearance, and the restaurant has kept its original name: Café & Olhalle 1892. The restaurant takes pride in cooking meals in the good old-fashioned way. Our bread is freshly baked. We make our own relishes and pickles. Our 'Star' Herring has been marinated in old-fashioned beer. All the culinary efforts fill the kitchens with a mouth-watering fragrance. All the dishes are made from scratch in our own kitchen. See the Menu Card. Let a superb hand-brewed beer accompany your meal. Why don't you try out a Stjerne (Star) bottle of lager with its 1947 label from the Workers' Brewery 'Stjernen'. The Stjerne beer served in Café & Olhalle '1892' is brewed according to old traditions. You should also try Arbejder Gylden, a wonderful aquavit distilled for Café & Olhalle '1892' exclusively. Welcome
