Had a group dinner in one of the chambre separes on the second floor. The food was ok, but the service was not very personal. Could be that this is a nice place for a dinner for couple or familiy downstairs (was packed), but I have had better meals and much better service. The location is very sentral and the... More

The reap saturate is located in a church, never being used a a church. Charming interior and they serve Danish foods arranged in delicate dishes. A fabulous wine cellar and the service is personal and good. Very nice both for lunch and dinner. Have tested both.

I bumped into this lovely and beautifully decorated restaurant by chance. It was nice to see people having lunch al fresco outside the church. I then realized it was a restaurant and had lunch there. I had the choice if the day: pork shank with vegetables. Well cooked, presented and served. A good wine list I must also recall. The... More

Set in a former church and approached by a flame lit court yard this restaurant promises much and does not disappoint once inside. Excellent local cuisine - the marinated scallops were unusual but tender and delicate and a good choice of mains. not cheap but worth it.

Food excellent. Atmosphere & staff friendly. Furniture is liken to being in an English stately home.

Great place - part of a church - with plenty of "hygge" going on in the classy candlelit interior. Friendly unpretentious staff, extensive (and expensive) wine list and lovely food. Book ahead as they turned away a dozen people during the course of our meal. Kr1250 for 2 inc aperos, wine and coffee.

In a building connedted to the St. Nikolai Church close to Strøget is this restaurant. A nice place with good food. Not a huge a la carte list, but few dishes to choose from. The food is good, nicely prepared and the service fine. Also an excellent winelist

These guys were amazing and looked out for me while I waited for my friend for an insanely long time tonight! I haven't met such friendly, kind waiters in a long time. You made my night that much better. The dining week menu was superb and the schnapps was just the ticket. I'd be back for a date :)

The restaurant offers Classic french cuisine, in the old Church building. Its cozy, informal and the food is great. We had the gnocci and the onion pie for starters and the Osobuco and the tartar for main course. Great service and a lovely atmosphere! Be sure to reserve a table!

Description
‘Maven – Restaurant & Wine bar’ is a down-to-earth eatery in the Nikolaj Exhibition Building; an old church right in Copenhagen’s solar plexus.

We offer quality wines and good beer at honest prices and classic dishes with an elegant twist, freshly made from the best ingredients.

The place has borrowed the old nickname for the Nikolaj Square; in the 19th Century this was the home of the city’s butcher shops and thus referred to by the locals as ‘Maven’, literally meaning ‘the Stomach’.

We have removed the bloody traces and aired the location, but the informal charm is still here. We treat the stomach without overdoing the gastronomical ambitions.
