This was our 3rd visit to Alana and every time it's as fantastic as the last. Food & service are both excellent and the atmosphere in the restaurant is so beautifully romantic. Still a firm favourite & can't wait to return!

A large beautiful shade tree in the middle of the dining area. It's above the street by 4 or 5 ft. So a bit less noise and nobody staring at you as they walk by. Staff was attentive but to be fair it was around...More

This restaurant was beautiful, an outdoor garden setting lit by candles. We both had fillet steak in a honey and sesame seed sauce which was just amazing. I had ice cream for dessert but my boyfriend had banoffee pie which was also divine. Would definitely...More

We were lucky to walk by and find this gem. Had a delicious lunch-all the food, especially the salads and the baked feta, was amazing. Nice staff, good service, nice wine list--highly recommend a meal here when visiting Rethymnon.

My girlfriend and I stumbled across the back entrance of Alana when wondering round the old town of Rethymno one evening. Past the kitchen, a beautiful and romantic garden setting. Very friendly and helpful waiters - my girlfriend is dairy free and gluten free and...More

Had a lovely evening here, food was very good and the staff were friendly and attentive. But what made the evening even more special was the setting. Beautiful place to have a lovely meal.

Excellent food and equally excellent service! Everyone in our group was more that satisfied, especially compared to the standard Greek tourist-trap restaurant. This was definitely worth a visit.

Alanas is a beautiful restaurant, the setting and atmosphere is lovely. Our meals were excellent, as was the service and wine! It made it a very special evening for us, my favourite out of all of them we visited in Rethymnon.

This lovely restaurant isn't the typical spot for travelers to Greece. It's a modern take on Greek classics, locally sourced food, top notch wines, and a respite for tired feet.

Made an impromptu and unplanned visit to this restaurant with family and my brother (who will now be forever referred to as knobhead). The seating area is all open and there is a very chilled vibe going on. The four of us (including knobhead) had...More

Alana Fresh food straight from the market. Specializing in grilled meat and Cretan cuisineThe restaurant's name derives from the old times. Alana was a place that kids of all the neighbourhood used to join together and play. It was first established in 1986 at the heart of the old town of Rethymno in Salaminos street , the central street under the castle of Fortezza and used to be one of the first tavernas in the area. With 200 seats it was the most crowdy place of the old town. In 2002 under new management, the place transformed to a more relaxing restaurant with 100 seats based on good quality products, attendive service and reasonable prices. Alana made a new beginning, changing totally the style of the restaurant, serving unique dishes of traditional fare in a relaxing setting full of flowers creating the perfect backdrop for a dining experience highlighted by inspired cuisine and impeccable service. The restaurant has attracted both tourists and local people drawn to the superb food, charm and hospitality of its owners. The restaurant serves healthy Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, using products sourced locally, cooked with care and it has been established as one of the best restaurants in town, based on the customers’ reviews. The extensive a la carte menu includes favourites like lamb with artichokes, Cretan smoked pork “apaki” and stuffed vine leaves, chargrilled steaks and beef burgers, grilled vegetables with feta cheese and oregano, wild greens with tomato, garlic and potatoes. Unique home made deserts are also offered.
