We had lunch there. Sat outside and ordered some mezzes and white wine. There are no tourists only locals eating here. The food is excellent and prepared with love. I def recommend this little taverne.

This is a small, cheap ouzo place just in from of the Venetian castle, catering mostly to Greeks. . You can (must) dine outside at one of the few tables overlooking the entrance to the port. The view is excellent, and food is very good....More

Kastro (Koules), tavern is situated at the end of Ierapetra seaside promenade, just next to the old fortress. The location itself is nice being next to the sea, feeling the sea breeze and also next to the city old fortress. The cuisine is simple but delicious and the most important of all the whole thing has nothing to do with the kitch massive tourism establishments Ierapetra is unfortunately full of. Salads, small fish, kalamaria etc and a lot of local people enjoying their food. No or few tourists, so an opportunity for those who seek the original staff to go to a small, simple greek tavern.
