When we started going to Kyparissi, I was absolutely tired and negative. Why are we goung so far away, just for a meal? Arriving there was also challenging, we had to search the tavern in the village. But whan we entered....OMG! It was an apokalypsis!...This place reloaded Crete in my hard. Genuine cretan food, reminding mama's kitchen and with a concept of the same level. You eat like home, whatever the kitchen has. Of course food served us more than enough in choices and quantities.More

We were on holidays in Crete and one of my Cretan friends invited us for dinner in this taverna. It was such an incredible experience that I will cherish for long time. The taverna is located in a remote village. We reached there late in...the night so you could see the clear sky with lots of stars and it was so peaceful. We were seated inside the taverna which does not have electricity so we could enjoy a candle light dinner. The taverna was full with mostly Greek clients. Gianni, the owner greeted us and we also met his Russian wife when leaving. The food was super delicious. FYI there is no menu so you are served whatever is cooked on that day, mostly Cretan and Greek dishes. It was an amazing atmosphere. I would strongly recommend it. Just be aware that the taverna is closed in the summer months and starts operating during cooler month of the year.More

A friend recommended to pay a visit. Best recommendation ever! A trip to the past ,cosy place,wonderful people ,specially Alexis our young waiter . 8-10 barrels of local home made wines ,extraordinary food and atmosphere under the candle lights.. We definitely going back.
