We tried this Irish owned restaurant in the new port a bit of trek from the main tourist area. The food was all very good, with a few different takes on the normal fare. We ordered, charred cauliflower salad, carrot & apricot croquettes, octopus, and...More

We visited Portes on a couple of occassions while staying in Chania. The food was lovely, traditional but with a few modern twists on the menu. We enjoyed a chickpeas curry, chicken souvlaki and lamb chops as well as a lovely frappe with ice cream.

My last visit a few years ago was to Portou off Kondolaki where the restaurant was in a narrow Venetian old town street. In this quaint setting virtually every nook and cranny was home to a restaurant. I loved the setting and the food. The...More

Great food at a good price. Had two apps and two main dishes. Had enough to take away as well. 29 euros. Good stuff.

15 minutes walk away from the noise and bustle of central Chania, this delightful restaurant has tables right above the old harbour at Nea Chora, where we are and watched fishermen mending bets whilst the sun set behind the Rodhopou peninsula. Great value for money,...More

I wast old the locals go there, actually I only found British expats there. Food is typical Greek, quite ok with ok price. But not my first choice in Chania.

This is a small family owned restaurant which has operated in the Old Harbour of Hania since 2004.We have recently moved to our new premises on the water front on Nea Hora Beach with ample seating along the beautiful harbour there. As you approach the restaurant you can't help but notice our charming decor featuring old doors as the name "PORTES" means doors. The Irish owner/chef offers her customers a blend of trend and tradition with her unique recipes catering for all tastes including local, greek, mediterranean, seafood, vegetarian and vegan options. All ingredients are fresh, seasonal, local and bought daily.Recipes are designed depending on the season and availability therefore be sure to checkout the blackboard displaying new dishes and daily specials. Here at"Portes" we open our doors each day to welcome our customers.
