We came after reading a review d from a Greek chef.
Nice place, near the metro omonia, there are several dining rooms and all decorated differently.
The only negative note in fact is given by the long waiting times to order and to see a waiter pass by to ask for information or something.
The food was good, cooked well at times very similar to our Sicilian cuisine.
We had the famous "fava", fried sardines because grilled ones were not available and a cauliflower drowned along with other vegetables, house wine and to complete the sweets with cheese, honey and cinnamon very similar to our cassatelle.
Definitely to be repeated as an experience

We had dinner here after a long search and the choice fell on this restaurant of Cretan cuisine. The place is very particular, quite central, but inside an office building is a part of the restaurant occupies the hallway. The staff is very friendly, speaks English, and describes dishes quite punctually. All our choices were really very very good but maybe the baked eggplant was extraordinary. The only problem is that, as often happens in these restaurants, it was very noisy. Excellent value for money

I really like this place and would have given it a 5* if we would have been advised of increased price of lamb shoulder before ordering.
We where recommend to go here by 3 other couples in our tour group from Exoticca
We enjoyed a nice litre of house Merlot wine with our meal….best wine I had in Greece. We order the stuffed grape leaves and then the lamb shoulder to share.
I original was going to order pork tapas and my hubby wanted lamb shoulder listed for 14 Euros. Daughter who works there explained menu items but neglected to tell us price would increase from 14 to 35 euros for lamb shoulder for 2. It was massive and could have feed a family of 4, more food then we wAnted. It was served simple with roasted potatoes and small cabbage salad. Homemade bread basket was also served at an additional cost. Bread was amazing as was grape leaves and lamb shoulder. I did not dispute the bill as food was awesome but did walk away with a bad taste in my mouth from none disclosure of actual cost of meal
Hopefully in future they advise people of increased price prior to ordering
Still would recommend for a great meal but buyer beware

Unpleasant experience... New Year's eve, three people (one child) went for appetizers and ended up eating for two hours (because they were not ready 13:00) with forced choices off the menu at an unknown price, with a tasty, but -incomparably with his kitchen - very expensive and without information about its price (we are also to blame for this) 50 euro ossobouko, with an unacceptable quantity and taste of potato and carrot garnish, with a polite staff, but insufficient in number and probably a little sly about pushing off-the-menu options... They generally made the most of a family of three who ordered appetizers (we wanted apaki, aubergine, fritters and meatballs and they only had the first) to ensure their New Year's bonus. Pity. Just a shame.

I'm sorry that my review will be contrary to the 4.5 I see.
Very slow service on a Sunday afternoon, the shop is full but not suffocating.
We were seated at 15:00, the food was served at 16:15 and it was cooked.
The flavors are honest, without anything standing out. Liver good, dakos small portion but ok, mizithropitakia nice.
The music is a bit irritating, only really, but that's to be expected.
Generally so and so

As a vegetarian I was expecting a better menu choice after reading the reviews. My wife and I ended up sharing baked potato, cauliflower and stuffed vine leaves with an inedible bruschette that was hard as a brick! The service staff were pleasant but were interminably slow. We had to repeatedly ask for the bill. Not overly impressed. Benefit of the doubt maybe we just caught them on an off night?

We had a large group (30+ people) visiting Athens in late June, early July! Some of our travelers happened on this restaurant one night and highly recommended we all go back the next night. Penelope and her staff fed us with great care at their wonderful restaurant, nearly 30 of us. We ate outside under the night lights in a garden like area and could not have asked for more delicious authentic Greek food and wine/ spirits. My husband and I went back 2 more nights during our stay. The dishes were wonderful lamb, pork, chicken, beef, seafood, salads, bread, sides such as warm chick peas with a sauce and a beetroot salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. We were treated at the end to a special little dessert even though we were full to the brim. Thank you I Kriti (also known as H KPHTH) your meals and hospitality will always be a highlight of our trip to Greece!

We read the reviews and thought great , lets go . The waitress was very good and in fairness the starters were good but we took her recommendation for the the lamb shoulder as the main course…. It was poor , big lump of lamb, badly butchered and cooked badly , served with greasy potatoes. Despite the fact we questioned if it was too big for the 2 of us she assured us it would be fine, it was far to big for 2 and the size alone was off putting

Kriti is a bit out of the way, in a residential neighborhood not too far from the National Archeological Museum. Atmosphere is informal with indoor and outdoor seating and the staff is attentive and helpful. The food is amazing and a chance to try something beyond the standard Athenian Greek staples. We had an excellent goat fricassee, lots of garbanzo, fava and eggplant dishes and excellent Cretan dokos salad—kind of a mash-up of Greek salad and a bruschetta.

I Kriti (H KPHTH) is a brilliant restaurant on Kaniggos square that offer superb Cretan cuisine which is well priced.
I Kriti is Greek for Crete was established in 1988 and was one of several place's which we visited around Omania. This restaurant has a fantastic well kept interior with many interesting fixtures and features and great seating options.
We visited this fantastic Cretan restaurant early in the afternoon and sat outside as it was a roasting hot day.As we had just had a meal we decided to have a beer.
When we visited we had a superb Athenian brewery Mamos beer which were perfectly served and well priced. This is an excellent Cretan restaurant and is well worth visiting and easy to get to from Omania metro its a short walk to Veranzerou were you will find this superb restaurant.

Recommended by the Hotel Manager, this authentic Cretian restaurant features the traditional foods of Crete! Our Waiter was incredibly knowledgeable not only about the food, but wine pairing as well. We sampled several dishes ranging from calamari, snails, goat, lamb and many traditional salads. The food was so flavourful, so fresh, and so reasonably priced! If you are staying at the Melia in Athens, this is a MUST stop for an amazing meal!

In my opinion, it is the best restaurant in the city.
The restaurant is cozy and peaceful. The food is very delicious and homemade.
If you go to Athenas, you do try their dishes.
In my opinion, for me the best restaurant in the city. The restaurant has a terrace, interior and air-conditioned interior. The very careful decoration, it has different rooms that makes it more cozy and calm.
The food was very good, traditional Greek and homemade cuisine, many dishes to choose from, we liked it so much that we came back again and it did not disappoint us again. Without a doubt a mandatory stop in Athenas.

Had the most delicious meal here tonight. The food was fantastic! Wanted to order the WHOLE menu it all looked so good. Ended up sticking with Constantina’s recommendation of a shared starter (stuffed peppers) 🤤, the beetroot and orange salad and the shared main of whole shoulder of lamb with potatoes!!
The entire meal was incredible and the service was so friendly, warm and welcoming. It looked like the entire family was helping out in the kitchen.
Please try this place, it may not look a lot from the outside, but it was fantastic food with heart ❤️

What a wonderful meal to start 2024! Everything was delicious especially the crispy shank, very nice to pair with a couple of cold beers and the very spicy tyrokafteri. Cute waiters too! Thank you very much!

Exarchia
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
