This small family run cafe, is a must. My wife and I found it by chance at lunch time and were impressed. So went for an evening meal and weren't we glad, although the menu choice is not large, the quality and quantity are great,...More

Five of us just had lunch at the Klepsidra cafe near the Agora square in Athens. We approached the cafe from the acropolis and walked down some steep stairs to reach it. If you are coming from that direction. Be careful and hold on to...More

Went out of our way to find the "gem" and found it touristy, crowded and overpriced. Had the Gyros plate both chicken and pork - typical kebab meat at inflated prices. Disappointing and far from a good "cheap eat"

In our never ending quest for out of the way places we found another off the beaten track. This quiet little cafe sits at the intersection of a couple of cobbled streets where we sat outside. It was 10am and we stopped for a coffee...More

This is a lovely stop after a busy morning. Great service. The breakfast is absolutely gorgeous, especially the Greek yoghurt and honey bowl, and it is very reasonably priced.

We stopped for lunch here after visiting the Parthenon. The mousaka, spinach pie and cheese cake were all delicious. The outside seating is on a quiet pedestrian street.

We chanced upon this quaint little restaurant in the hillside at the end of our visit to the grand Parthenon. We were both parched and hungry. Hope it wasn't that that the food tasted especially good. We had the moussaka. It was tasty and reasonably...More

I was visiting the nearby tourist attractions and own my way to a bit further away in hope to find a good place for dinner. Something about this restaurant caught my eye on a side street I randomly picked. The seating setup is really cool,...More

Situated within Plans under the imposing Parthenon but somewhat off the beaten path within a stone's throw of tourist central you are either lost or purposely sought this cafe. Family run, friendly and casual. Not a huge menu but certainly sufficient, I'm vegetarian and found...More

Stumbled across this restaurant when walking the back streets down from the Acropolis. The location is great and seating up the steps is different! The food was good, portion size excellent and the price was reasonable. The service was friendly and attentive. It's probably a...More

Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a

Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized
streets surround the remains of both the Greek and
Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is
where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the
tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki
Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street
