The place is nice where a lot of locals go. Service was good, staff are quick and alert. The food was great at least the meat and fish was of good quality cooked to perfection. Until we had their lime tart, obviously drenched in green food color and was almost acid to taste. I understand they're not in Key west,... More

The food here was not good. Edible, but not good. As per the previous reviewer's comments, the upstairs was unbearably hot. Our server was very unfriendly, and only spoke with one word answers. They also sat 3 of us at a table for 2 and there was not room for all our food to be on the table at the... More

Visited on a busy cold Friday night and were seated upstairs. The heat on the upper floor was unbearable to the extend we were not comfortable and could not enjoy our food. We requested to lower the heating but got a reply that this was not possible as the people eating on the ground floor would freeze (which was true... More

In spite of some difficulty to find the restaurant - a sign would help - it was well worth the effort. Amazing menu that highlights regional Greek dishes and local produce, the food was just fantastic - plate-licking good. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, reasonable prices... I will return.

Melilotos had been on my "to try out" list of restaurants for a while, as I had read several good reviews and had checked their very promising menu. I had tried to visit previously, but as we hadn't made a reservation we couldn't get a table on that occasion. When I eventually managed to visit with a couple of friends... More

Everything we had was very delicious and fresh. It's not traditional Greek food but it's Greek food with a creative modern twist. I had a carrot soup with orange and cardamom which I really enjoyed. Then I had a delicious tender smoked pork steak which came with a tasty lettuce salad and a spicy fetta dip. I really enjoyed it... More

Comfortable and welcoming restaurant with generous portions of freshly cooked, delicious food. The highlights were the eel tart, fava beans and veal orzo. The desserts were exceptional. Excellent house red.

Was in Athens for work and this place was recommended by a colleague. Fresh and appealing building with a busy and welcoming atmospere. Food is really delicious and present s a good range of traditional Greek dishes. Started with a nice range of meze. Followed by simple main courses, served well and with excellent flavour. Service was efficient and brisk.... More

Description
Downtown, busy and small family restaurant, with a few tables outside. Fresh, local food with a twist, cooked with love and best quality ingredients. It is placed among cafes and bars, so it is the right place to feel the rythm of the city!

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
