The quality of the service has really deteriorated through the years. We politely said that our greek coffee was not good: the waiter instead of replying to us, went in the kitchen to pass our remark to his colleagues. He came back to say that the coffee was done right, but since we insisted, he could offer us another coffee.... More

Serbetia is just perfect. The portions are huge and the quality is excellent. Unfortunately this time they did not have the chocolate cake but again the variety was big. The friendly staff helped us choose. I selected the profiteroles with ice cream. Just perfect.

The tables were dirty, the sweets were too expensive and of poor quality. After eating, we had a stomache-ache. Poor location also.

We were amazed by the quality of what we ate and how good was the decoration of the plates by the time we were served! It's a shop that supports both the finest quality and the variety! I had a chocolate cake with an ice cream ball which was perfect due to the fact that the taste was incomparable and... More

Every time I visited Athens, one of the locals would always mention this place. I visited yesterday (13th August) with a friend, and simply asked the waiter to bring me something he would it to share. Pick the variety for sure, you get to pick 2 dishes and in between them an ice-cream-mount (no joke - literally a pint of... More

This place was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. There are trays of traditional sweets soaking in honey, then desserts with a modern twist. It all looks very tempting and it's easy to have too much. We visited late on a Monday night but the staff were friendly and hospitable and offered us Mastiha shots to wash... More

I'm Greek and faculty in a US college that has organized and escorted students to educational trips to Greece since 2010. Ta Serbetia stou Psyrri is not only a regular stop, but it's not a tourist trap. The desserts are authentic, the hospitality is genuine and the service is consistently outstanding!!! A must experience for anyone visiting Athens, even for... More

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighbourhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighbourhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
