As you can see from the other reviews they have only few dishes but it's all special. The restaurant has 130 years history and an owner of the restaurant works under his father since 1957, according to him. Better go earlier like 12 o'clock. Their...More

you get transposrted to the early 20th century Athens eatery under a row of big retsina barrels mostly local nationals and central market workers . Greek traditional dishes with emphasis on soups and grilled fish, excellent retsina, ,(do NOT visit the WC)

One of the oldest taverns of the town, still untapped. You get served a chickpea soup, fava beans and some wine from the barrel. There are also other alternatives to eat I think but who asks for it! This is the place to break your...More

This unmarked and totally unchanged room gives one a glimpse of what eating out for the working classes must have been like 100 years ago. If the food was anything like Diporto then it must've been fantastic! Do not miss this place

This restaurant is not like usual restaurants. It's difficult to find and situated in a small cellar. But the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. There are barrols of which you get the wine. Sometimes they are playing live acordeon. And - the most important thing -...More

Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is
grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from
the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its
underground stalls, the square is now mostly
frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The
most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set
off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually
coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a
