Friendly atmosphere, great view of the Acropolis (although had to turn my back to see it!). Food bit rich and portions large. Bit pricey for what it is, but definitely a recommendation. Good selection of local wine - stick to white.

OK so here's the deal - view under the Acropolis is pretty good - closer than Rooftop Garden GB but not as good as Dionysos Zonars. Narrow entry up flights is mediocre at best. Food is good and plentiful - wine list is moderate - but no spirits outside of 3 lower shelf varieties. Is it good ? Is it... More

A mid-March night time visit to the restaurant top floor. The view is impressive and expect this is amazing in the warmer months. The food and service was excellent and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The quality and flavour of the food was high. Greek wines were good too.

Best food i had in Greece. The view of acropolis is awesome. Need reservation if going for dinner after 8pm. I was there at 7pm and it was quite empty until 8pm. Price was also reasonable for good food and good atmosphere.

We choose this restaurant on the basis of its fairly high ratings, but were disappointed. Uninspired atmosphere on the first floor of an unassuming house in an unassuming street. The menu card again was - in tune with the surroundings - uninspiring. Our waiter, on the positive side, was an inspired fellow and a convincing salesman! We had a three... More

We were from Strofi for dinner at the suggestion of our hotel receptionist and never tip was so perfect. We had reserved a table on the second floor with a fabulous view of the Acropolis. Prompt service, good food and perfect Greek Chardonnay. During dinner we attended the fateful "will you marry me" on the part of a young couple. What... More

If you want to pay for a view eat haloumi and rub elbows with other well heeled tourists of all nations you will enjoy. For our greek friends this was a "big deal" for us a much a do .... Food was over priced, just ok and it really is a tourist joint gussied up.

Had a family dinner in Strofi which provided a good view of the Acropolis in the evening. Food were nicely presented and service was superb. We had the meat platter which came with a good mix of grilled meat. Greek salad was fresh with cuts of feta cheese. Wonderful evening spent at Strofi.

We have been in Strofi with my friends on the night of New Year's Eve. The food was delicious, the wines they recommended as well. But above all, the Restaurant has a great view of Acropolis, you feel like it is so close that you may actually touch it :) the prices are not low but I think they are... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
