Last month, I came back to Porto from London and I was obviously craving for amazing TRADITIONAL PORTUGUESE FOOD, so I went to my favourite place in Porto to have such: O Marinheiro! As always the food was impecable, with beautiful servings and very tasteful food! You can really get a taste of Portugal in a plate at O Marinheiro.... More

We wanted to find a typical Portuguese restaurant away from the city center (I mean away from all the restaurants for tourists) and let me tell you that we found a diamond! Try the Baccalau de Braga, you won't be disappointed! And even better : it's really cheap for the quality and quantity you get! Fresh and tasty food, nice... More

The place itself is not very fancy and has a very small summer garden that was actually pretty nice. My tuna steak was awful but my girlfriend fish was tasty. Overall i'm not very happy with that place but i've been in worst places.

We spotted Marinheiro while on our hop on / hop off tour and thought "that looks nice" and yes, it was. really nice. A small family run restaurant with a good choice of food and plenty of good fish to choose from. the sole was excellent as was my wife's sea bass. Terrific choice of wine at a very reasonable... I got the seafood rice, it came with some fresh shrimp and 2 mussles LOL, the rest was frozen. It also came with FAKE lobster meat. Overall a waste of money, last time i eat here.

We had a tasty light dinner of fried fish (sardinas and some other fish we were recommended) and 2 beers. Total was about €15. Close to aliados so super easy to reach. Highly recommended!

The food was made from frozen seafood and the cooking (way too much) made it barely edible. The service was allright, and so was the waiting time, but all in all not worth wasting time on, and not cheap compared to quality.

You might want to check to see if your grandma is working the kitchen at Marinheiro, and her grandson the tables. Everything about this comfortable, unpretentious place spoke “my grandma” to us, and not incidentally “real Portuguese”, including the real ingredients, large portions of food, the futbal game going in the background. Service was very attentive. The most expensive bottle... More

The restaurant was close to where we were staying so we thought we'd try it. The staff were helpful and friendly. The first surprise was a nice one, for us. We ordered a sardine starter. In fact, it turned out to be whitebait, which I prefer, cooked perfectly. Unfortuntately, our main couse was less good. The tuna steak which I... More
