We had a good evening with some nice dishes. The salad is very tasty with the addition of mango which made the taste very unique. The duck is nicely roasted with soft meat and crispy skin. Beef is nicely done with a slice of foie...gras on top. If I have to be picky, think the portion or the slice of duck is a bit thin. However, it’s a fine restaurant that definitely worth going, plus we got 30% off our bill through booking in advance.More

Most importantly the food was very very tasted, my girlfriend is vegetarian,my mum is a meat lover and myself a fish fanatic, all of us were well accommodated for. The carpaccio of cod and the goats cheese Gutyf were spot on, the cod was interesting...blend of salty, fresh and fishy flavours very well balanced. The goats cheese and fig jam, a simple warhorse of a flavour combination, was well balanced and elevated with the addition of the Arabic pastry. Spot on. The croquettes and aioli, again a fantastic thing, simple, tasty meats and crispy, perhaps the plating option was over simplified and not what I would expect at this style of restaurant but nevertheless well seasoned, flavoursome and a pleasure on the palate. Our mains again were impressive. The beef and fois gras were both perfectly cooked and made with fine quality ingredients, the sauce was rich and had a good fat content. The duck was umami and well cooked, the sweet sticky sauce not overwhelming the flavour of the meat and the the garnish, asparagus and a sort of potato and onion hash brought a sweet, peppery and earthy balance to the dish. The vegetarian main was again very good, full of flavour, creamy, decedent and rich. The raviolis seemed to be home made, they were thin and the filling was well seasoned and tasty brilliant!! Now my criticisms. The service was good, our waiters were friendly, attentive and on the ball. But the order of service for myself felt a little wrong, our first course arrived before our wine. Minor thing but I want to be constructive. Also throughout our experience we has one chipped plate, one chipped glass and one chipped copy cup. Again a minor thing but I expect at this level of restaurant not to have chipped tableware. It took a long time for us to receive our bill, the restaurant got busy fast and the only server on the floor at the time, a young man with a tattoo on his arm and an energetic nature bounced around the room attempting the impossible, serving everyone. It took almost 15 minutes to receive our bill which again is not a major issue but at this level I feel more could be done to ensure the dining room is looked after by more than one person at 9pm on a Saturday. I am looking forward to my next visit to costume in Porto and trying more of the menu. I hope that some of my criticism can be received constructively.More

We visited the delightful town of Porto in February. It was my first time and my boyfriends second, I was delighted by the warmth of the weather, the people and the wonderful foodÍ My boyfriend recommended Costume Bistro having visited on his previous trip 3...years earlier. It is tucked away in a small unassuming alleyway just off the main square. It is easy to see how this restaurant can be missed but that would be quite the shame, for the Restaurant is wonderful. The decor is modern and dark, a perfect romantic ambience for our first dinner in Porto. A lot of menus in Porto focus mainly on seafood but Costume Bistro's is varied, with several meat and vegetarian options also. I decided on the tempura for starters - wow! So light and tasty, without being oily or heavy - it was the best I've ever had! My bf had a delicious duck meal for mains, beautifully cooked. The experience was so good, we decided to go back a couple of days laterÍ On both occasions, we were served by our fantastic waitress Ana, who was super polite, professional and knowledgable throughout. She did a really great job making us feel welcome, as did the other staff. We would definitely come back if ever visiting Porto again - thanks for the wonderful experience!More

This lovely restuarant was only 30 metres from the Royal bridges Hotel & although it seemed to be almost a back street the food was fantastic. It was a fairly slow Monday night in February but well worth the visit. I had the Tuna which...was cooked beautifullyMore

I’m surprised this restaurant is more highly rated in Porto, although I would have to admit I’ve not tried all the competition! A family owned affair, this restaurant, tucked down an alley near the main square, is a real gem. Service was superb and the...food was well presented and quite delicious. There was a decent wine list at reasonable prices and overall the meal was very good value. Many of the dishes were superb and the ravioli was a real find! If you like lemon meringue pie then this place also offers a lovely and unique version. Highly recommend.More

Took a couple of attempts to find it but was worth it! Dining alone on a Friday night while in Porto I wanted to find somewhere nice to eat - I wasn't disappointed! Staff were nice and food was excellent - has a nice ambiance....Seems to be a good "date night" restaurant as was mainly couples but I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable. Both seafood dishes I had were lovely.More

We were delighted with our evening at the Costume Bistro. Good food and wine and generally good service. We thought that two servers made it difficult at times for them to be attentive but they tried their best and we have no complaints once we...had the servers attention. Everyone enjoyed the food my steak came up less then medium well ordered and not only did they cook a new one new sides arrived with it which was excellent. Overall a great place to eat.More

The ambiance was elegant, yet simple, & the food excellent! Our waitress accommodated all of our special requests (changing a few side dishes, etc.), & was very pleasant about it. Wine accompanying our meal was excellent as well, so everyone went away happy! Highly recommend.

Tucked away off a main street, this restaurant is a little gem. Good ambience, helpful English speaking staff, great food, reasonable prices. Nothing about it I would want to see changed.
