This is a typical Portuguese well know all hours restaurant!. I went there yesterday and was shocked to receive a tourist menu with no "Special´s of the Day" clipped to the menu as is the norm. The waiter removed the "Specials of the day" leaving me with the higher priced menu ........? Not a polite waiter as I was accustomed... More

We were staying at hotel HF Ipanema, Porto. Instead of eating at the hotel, we went across the road to the Capa Negra restaurant. We enjoyed it so much that we there on each of the three evenings we were in Porto. It had a real buzz about the place full of locals enjoying the great value fare on offer.... More

We have probably never been to a restaurant as busy as this place. The high numbers of people constantly waiting for a table gives you a good indication that this is a very special location. Surprisingly, we were seated within ten minutes. The menu is excellent with some fantastic sharing dishes including salmon, pork, veal and chicken. The service was incredible given... More

Good restaurant, just across the road from the hotel HF Ipanema Porto. Eat here twice. It's a big restaurant, probably seating around 150 or so people. It was full each time we went in, and there was a fairly rapid turnover with places filled as they were vacated. Those eating here seemed a balanced mix of locals as well as... More

As a tourist in Porto, you will inevitably try the Francesinha, a stack of meats between two large pieces of toast, smothered in melted cheese and savory sauce. (French fries and fried egg optional, for extra punishment to your heart.) People will suggest many other places in town for this dish, but a local student said his favorite was here.... More

If you want to eat Francesinha, this is the place to go. Get ready to wait for a table (I did even tough I reserved ahead) and to wait a little bit for the food, but it's worth it.

This house is a synonym of Porto. Food wise it serves everything that's a staple of this city. And its customers are a perfect sample of Porto people - meaning that they are from all corners of life and society. As so we can say that it also represents Porto's strong democratic history. I went there with a party of... More

Tasty robalo (seabass), good rodovalho (turbot) from the grill and caldo verde. A bit of a problem communicating with the waiter whose english awareness was poor. Earlier reservation strongly recommended because of queues.

Went there to get a late dinner with the kids. We had francesinhas for lunch, so we were not in the mood for them and ended ordering a steak sandwich, spaghetti bolognese and hotdogs... we couldn't even finish them. Not even the french fries were decent. I guess you better stick to their famous francesinhas if coming here.

Allways a Francesinha crosses our way in Oporto! As well as the "rissois de carne", among other typical Oporto suggestions. Capa Negra is a must in this city.
