The food was quite dry and over-priced. Location very nice, service was good. I really enjoyed the mushrooms with gorgonzola cheese! Next time I would pick another place though.

Very nice restaurant in a hidden area. It's not very budget like other places in Lissbon but thats also because you can immediately notice this difference in the food and the wine! Its very good and that's why you pay a little bit more, compared to other cities in europe still very cheap! The waiter was also very nice, cool... More

We took refuge here during a nasty rainy Sunday afternoon and what an amazing surprise. Best blood Sausage with Apple sauce ever -- and I don't like blood sausage generally. The Sautéed Prawns with Garlic are a must. I would pass on the octopus salad though. Delicious and light pudín Santo Antônio for dessert.

Discovered this Alfama restaurant by sheer happenstance while walking and starving and it didn't disappoint. Solid portions and affordable. See pics we took around restaurant on our walk.

Our host recommended this restaurant to us since we were staying in the Alfama neighborhood. The restaurant is charming; the staff are friendly and welcoming; the service is efficient, and the celebrity theme is fun. The food was very good, though the only dish I recall is the plate of mushrooms stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese. I think my husband had... More

We'd hoped to be outside but got there and it was packed, so were shown to a table upstairs. Our hearts sunk, but it was just as busy with tables all full except ours. Tremendous waiting staff, very friendly and helpful. We had a traditional starter and main course, but lots around us were using the starters as tapas. We... More

Lovely small restaurant in the Alfama area. We thought we would have to sit inside after all the tables outside were taken but the lovely server opened the windows and gave us a table looking out onto the courtyard. The soup was delicious and tapas were larger than expected. Although service was slow - it was only because there was... More

Ignore the few bad reviews, this restaurant has everything you would want in Lisbon. First, it is tucked away among the cobblestone streets of the Alfama with a delightful terrace. The interior of the restaurant is cozy & welcoming. The staff is very pleasant & helpful. The food was very good & not pretentious. We really enjoyed the house potatoe... More

This place is hidden and very calm with a nice shady terrace and friendly service. The main courses were good, a lot of appetizers that you do not order, including a special kind of french fries. We were glad we had skipped starters. Kids can run outside, very clean toilet.

A great location and lovely seating area but the staff and food was not. Waitress was grumpy and slow. Some of the food was good but the beans no where near as good as else where and a questionable raspberry jam served on the goats cheese. It was supposed to be a salad but just a few browning leaves.

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
