We spent about two weeks in Portugal this summer (one week on the Algarve coast and one week in the Lisbon area) and this was by far our best culinary experience. We were wandering the streets of Alfama and happened upon this place by chance....More

My family had a wonderful experience at this little restaurant. I enjoyed the best tuna steak I have ever eaten. My wife had the rabbit and my daughter (who isn't generally big on lamb) really enjoyed her stew. It's a small place and the entire...More

We were on our way to another restaurant when we passed the Taberna. It looked very quaint, with a cook and a hostess/waitress and room for about 20-25 customers. We are really glad we stopped — we had the chorizo that is grilled at the...More

This place is great, and very nice even if you’re with a family. Food and service were on point. Dessert was great...a welcome treat to taste original ideas.

This is the most disappointing restaurant that we have visited in quite some time. We selected it as a highly rated, out of the way restaurant with interesting cuisine. In the event the service was totally perfunctory. They had run out of gin when we...More

Small menue, very friendly staff. Food was OK but not that special. Housewine had good character for the price. Many other places may have the same quality.

The bread, the olives, the marinated carrots, the squid, the chouriço, the lamb, the leite creme (creme brûlée), the pineapple with coriander, the wine... All fantastic. Real top quality food in a very nice place with great jazz music.

Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply
"Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake
construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755
earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its
name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in
Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the
Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the

This is a new place reviving the ancient Lisbon tradition of Tabernas. A modern and simple approach to the ancient popular wine bars in Lisboa: the "Tabernas". It's cozy, friendly and personal, but the food is exquisite and it's makes you travel back in time. Here you can try popular dishes almost forgotten, house made specialities that you'll hardly taste in normal restaurants, and at a very reasonable price. It's a secret spot to finish your afternoon stroll in Baixa, you get there through arches and small popular streets, there you can sense a little of the popular neighborhood. You must try this adventure!
