I'm not sure why this comes up as a restaurant. It is not a restaurant, it is a mode of transportation. All of the funiculars in Lisbon are fun to ride, especially if it is off-season and you don't have to crowd in like sardines. Rua Bica is a very narrow street and often decorated. It's true what others say,... More

I wouldn't make a special trip just to go for a ride, but if you're there go for it. at the top is a street with loads of good cheap eats.

I don't know why this is listed under "Restaurants." I took a short funicular ride to the Sao Roque Church. It rumbled and rattled along a steep street very close to the buildings. I was able to use my Zap card for about 1.40 euros a ride otherwise it costs almost 4 euros if buying onboard. It fills up with... More

The distance travelled is not great but on foot the hill is very steep and the 5 Euro cost can be reduced by buying an all day public transport pass for around 9 euros. It is great fun to travel on such an old tram squashed in with a cosmopolitan group of fellow travelers looking forward to their evening out.... More

Tricky to find but what a glory to find. Tucked away behind what appears to be a slightly open door is this cheeky and fun looking vehicle. Take it up the Da Bica to the top. Very friendly driver too 🙂

We chose to go up in the funicular when we were put off by the very long queue for the Elevador de Santo Justa. There are great views at the top, and since your ticket is a return, it's easy to get back down to the wide avenues of Lisbon city centre.

This funicular (elevador da Bica) is one of 4 that one can find in Lisbon. These are as traditional as can be. But nowadays are mostrly used by tourists. It's a very nice way to go from the river side Cais do Sodré to the hill of Bairro Alto. Just enjoy the ride.

This attraction whilst a worthy piece of Portuguese history is vastly over priced and over crowded. It is manned by two nasty little men who on our visit tried to overcrowd the vehicle and then when we along with other people refused to get on due to overcrowding proceeded to belittle us in front of a crowd. Fortunately most of... More

stupidly expensive! Here is the trick: buy a 24 hour pass in the metro station, it'll cost you 6E plus a 50 cent fee, its good from the first time you validate it. ride the 28 out to one end and back to the other, ride all three funiculars, take the metro somewhere, and then start walking. Its an easy... More

We got on - it went up a steep incline and got off in the middle of a residential street. We thought at least there would have been something nice to see or do at the top. Obviously they were designed for residents. They look good for a photo.
