The food was outstanding this is a small quaint restaurant. The staff was a bit rude but it was a busy night.

We went to this restaurant on the 2nd of February. The restaurant looks okay, not at all a bad place. We got seated and the waiter came to serve us. Not a nice person, he looked to us in a dismissive and non-chalant way and when we asked him questions he looked directly over us like he could care less... More

The room is lovely - a beautifully renovated vault in gorgeous golden stone. Very atmospheric. But the fado-style experience lacked magic for us. The performers, while skilled enough, performed in short bursts and did not engage much with the audience. This all had a 'going-through-the-motions' feel about it. Octopus salad was very good, but the main courses (tasteless veal and... More

Dear sir Im sorry to hear that you thought the ambiance was sad due to you being by yourself instead of having the full experience. I tried to give you the best attention as possible but you were so insistant on being the only person who needed to be taken care of that i could not provide you a personal,... More

We found this place by chance and were amazed by the service, the good music and the nice food. A young team does its best to combine quality food with quality culture. We enjoyed a jazz trio that started their tour through Portugal and Spain that evening. We will certainly come back, next time we will be in Lisbon

I have waited to review this place as it's hard to know where to start. I always prefer to work on the positives so, despite initial reservations, I shall go straight in and say it's certainly a must if you want a special evening. Our table was booked in advance and we were "warned" not to be late. This in... More

This restaurant hosts various performers. It has a real local feel and the manager is quite charming. The food is ok, but the ambience and welcome make for a very nice evening.

We wanted to listen to good fado, while still enjoying good food, and based on TA reviews, made a dinner reservation. I don' t claim to be a fado expert, but the singer and guitarist were talented and their performance was very good. As for the food, I can only assume the chef had an off night. My wife decided... As my wife and i were walking around for a bar to have a drink and listen to live music. we came to this place by chance as we walked in an area that has several Fado clubs. This is a restaurant and not a bar but they allowed us to come in and get a couple of glasses of... More

We searched a nice restaurant in Alfama and by chance we came to this one. We ate three wonderful starters and three main dishes, we were very pleased of the quality and the nice presentation. We had enough time to discuss between the courses. At the end we had a beautiful Fado concert and this only for 5€ per person.... More

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
