Delicious and tasty, this short menu. You can find half a dozen African dishes, with portuguese accent. (If some of you don't like they can make a Portuguese steak)

Stumbled upon by accident. Very much has the feel of a basic cafe but very hospitable staff, the lady can speak French which might help non-portuguese speakers. I had a pork dish with chick peas/beans and two types of sausages washed down with an espresso and fruit juice, not what I'd order typically but I saw locals eating it and... More

I wanted to try some Afro-Portuguese food while I was in Lisbon, and I had heard this place was good and affordable, and it turned out to be true. I had a chicken and okra stew served over mashed yucca/cassava. It was so delicious I wish I knew how to make it. I just had water with my meal, so... More

Small and cozy place, good service and good food, including a decent house wine and very good deserts. All this for a very reasonable price. Try the "cachupa" and any of the deserts that include cheese...

We were a group of 6 and wanted to try Cape Verde's traditional food. We were late but everybody welcomed us with a smile. We tasted Cachupa, Grilled Tuna, Chicken breast with peanut sauce and octopus. Everything was extraordinarily well cooked with simplicity and in a non presumptuous manner. It felt like food was done not just for clients but... More

Small familly place . Nit the most romantic one. But with familly or friends, just a great place. Few choices but all is very good. Wine is almost given, and at the end we eat for 35 euros for 4 persons wine included...and everybody was happy. That s a really good place to try african food. Not yo forget that... More

We wanted to try out some African food while in Lisbon and just googled our neighbourhood and "African food". One of the first suggestions was Estrela Morena and as it turned out to be just 200 metres away, we gave it a go. Turned out to be a pleasant surprise as the service, the food and the price were all... More

We did research on African food in Portugal after reaching our max (in a good way) on local food. We wanted a change. After hunting around we found this place which ended up being around the corner from our apartment we rented. It was a fun and delicious surprise. It has a few tables and is small and unpretentious. There... More

Staying in Principe Real

Neighbourhood Profile
Principe Real
From the splendid garden and its cafe-kiosk to its restaurants, Príncipe Real is more than worthy of a visit and it won't let you down: its attractions include "Pavilhão Chinês" (one of the more eccentric interior designs you'll ever see), museums and a fantastic botanical garden. It's also a commercial neighborhood, and you can visit a renovated Palace, home of the Embaixada (embassy) trendy shopping center with its cafes, art galleries and luxury shops... and even if you don't buy anything, take a look inside just for its marvellous interiors. On top of this, Príncipe Real offers a variety of places to eat: if you're in a hurry, drop by "Pizza a Pezzi"; and if you're not, taste the delicious Honorato hamburgers, Argentinian cuisine at La Paparrucha and also great, delicious Portuguese food at Tascardoso!
