We went here on recommendation from our guide, and was good for a glass of vino verde and some traditional roast cod fish even though it was a bit chewy!

Fish that was recommended was perfect :) nice atmosphere... Can be crowdy around 12 - 1 pm but is perfect time to see what locals eat for a lunch break...

Worst service and the food taste like a mix of oil and trash. Never try to waste your money at here, you will be outrageous by the things you get. Try other great one, this one sucks.

Just a town centre cafe, probably lots like it. We were attracted by the meringues and baked apples. Went back following day for lunch. Fresh fish, good veg, classic puddings. Good value "home cooking". Friendly.

We were looking for a spot off the main tourist traps that wasn't expensive. There's nothing better than choosing a place which you perceive is full of locals and this was one we went back to. The service is efficient and friendly and the food is fine. Waiter was very helpful generally and even gave us advice on where to... More

The food here was awesome! The veal and tuna steak specials that they had were splendid. The place is quite crowded at lunch time so there is a need to wait abit for a table. However, it is surely worth the wait.

Popped in here on a Saturday for lunch about 14:00, and it was very busy. Staff were doing there best to keep things moving, we had a nice lunch at a reasonable price and left. A bit noisy inside probably due to the sound bouncing of the tiled walls. It's busy because it's good food at a good price, not... More

It does not look that appealing in the first instance but we did give it a try for custard tart. And it was yummy. Crisp and not too sweet. A dash of cinnamon will bring more magic.

Although it doesn't look like much, Paco Real was the best restaurant we went to in our 5 days in Lisbon. So much so we went back twice. it's always packed with locals which is probably why there's not many tourist reviews for it. If you go anytime after 1pm good luck getting a table. The food is quality and... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
