I and my wife went here for the second time. The menu is great and our choices didn't disappoint us, The Brás de Pato is superb. We will return to try other choices from the menu, in particular the Cachaço and the Bochecha. We think that the timings of the service need some attention, not only trying to reduce it,... More

Dined here with colleagues on a business trip. Feels special as soon as you walk in. Good choices and the bread when you sit down is good. I had a risotto which was excellent followed by cod- I'd forgotten that in Portugal this means fish shaped salt. Tasty nonetheless. Desert was ice cream whose texture wasn't great, but tasted good.

Restaurant is on a good location, it's close to the hotel we stayed in. It is nicely decorated and clean. The food is tehnically very good prepared as also wine we ordered with a recommandation. I have one dislike, the food was has come really fast. They could give as a little more time between the courses.

Great food, worth a visit. Not as good as 100 Maneiras, but still well worth it. great seafood stew and lamb. Steak was also good.

Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. However you get the impression that its a mix of restaurant and cafe. But if you forget about this and just try to enjoy the food, you will be satisfied. Average price and ok service

We ate there last night, a Sunday when many Lisbon restaurants are closed. The downstairs room is beautiful, with fascinating aquaria of jellyfish swimming like ballerinas. Carpeted, so as the room filled, the sound level was subdued. The service is absolutely first-rate. One of our many servers even helped us get onto their wi-fi. We ordered a sea bass with... More

We booked the restaurant after we saw it when passing by and we weren't disappointed with our choice! I was a bit worring when I read less positive reviews on trip advisor but there is no need to be concerned here at all. We were lucky to get a table Thursday night ! On arrival we were welcomed by a... More

We got on line and read reviews some good some bad. Kept getting recommended so we thought to check it out. We had a pleasant experience. Our waitress was very nice and helpful with food and wine selections. Decor is fun. Jelly fish tanks along the wall. Odd art at doorway. My friend said she felt like we were in... More

This really is an excellent restaurant. The dining room is intimate, welcoming and carpeted meaning there isnt the clatter and echo that reduce so much modern dining to a shouting match. The aquaria along one wall are full of tiny jellyfish under ultraviolet light giving a calming and faintly surreal vibe. The opposite wall is partly uholstered further helping noise.... More

Description
"Largo" opened its doors in the end of 2009 and it seems to be quite a success. That is, if you judge "success" by the difficulty to book a table at this fine restaurant. I was lucky the 3rd time round and I must say that it was worth the effort.

First of all, the place itself is just delicious! The restaurant is located next to the nicely renovated Largo do Picadeiro and is housed in an old cloister. The interior is a mixture of modernity and heritage. The furniture is very stylish and the huge aquarium housing dozens of jelly-fish is just awesome!

The food is good, but that should be expected from the former chef of Porto's most famous restaurant "Bull & Bear". The menu lists a mixture of international cuisine and more traditional dishes. The winelist is extensive (mind the wallet). They serve until late, which is also rather convenient.

Overall, a very nice place to have a great dinner. Expect to pay though, 'cos it ain't cheap! Spend at least an hour looking at how the jelly-fish change color in their tank. Breathtaking!

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
