Frequently I travel alone and just as frequently I am treated as a lesser visitor. Not the case here. I was made to feel as welcome as the groups if four or six. The food was good, not special or elegant. But very typical of real Portugal. Tasty boiled potatoes and crispy fried fresh calamari. And a very generous pour... More

Usually when you step into such restaurants ,that we call touristic traps, you are prepared from the best..to the worse! We were lucky because we had no time to search for something more traditional Portugese and we had generally a nice dinner at Milano restaurant. We ordered the veal sirloin grilled and one more fried veal with sauce from olive oil,garlick... More

As a Portuguese I feel very sorry when I am confronted with the abuse of tourism that is reflected in a high price for poor service, poorly confessed food and little. It is a pity. Site to avoid ...

Let's face it- food typical for Portugal is not pretty, but very delicious! In this restaurant we have the same situation- food looked average (at best!) but it was so delicious, soft and full of flavour at the same time. Plus they serve really nice starters. Prices reasonable.

Another of those so-called tourist traps slammed by the tourists. Yes, like so many of the sidewalk restaurants in Lisbon, there was a hustler outside by the sidewalk trying to convince you to go into the restaurant. I guess this is the way of life here. I decided to give this restaurant a try because the hustler was pretty friendly,... More

We understand that the location is more than the food. We just need to have something to eat for late lunch or early dinner. The beer quenched our thirst. My octopus dish is surprisingly tasty but the other seafood rice dish is a miss. Our two next tables' customers had one with good time and the other not so good.... More

I ordered peri peri chicken and my wife had clams. The bones and a bit of chicken flesh duly appeared with cold flaccid chips. My wife said her clams were over cooked. I pointed out the chicken skeleton to the girl server, she just shrugged. I think they must have taken the meat for another dish. We didn't leave a... More

I have to admit. This wasn't what we expected. It's on a stretch of a street I would define as a tourist trap, with people trying to get you into their restaurants. Quite annoying really. . The service was amazing. The lady who served us was so friendly. The food was slow to come out but well worth it and... More

This restaurant is on a street with many other restaurants which flavor tourists. The food here was average. My meal (salmon) was good but my wife's steak was not so good. The prices are reasonable and the service decent.

We had an early dinner here. We picked the restaurant because it seemed to have a number of people already eating, and many of those Portuguese. Not disappointed in the food or service. We both started with salads. Then I had monkfish rice which came in a casserole dish to the table The rice was well cooked and in a... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
