We were welcomed without a reservation and at first were treated very well. Unfortunately there was a mix up as I ordered the chicken and my partner ordered kid but the food wasn't cooked together so we waited ages and my chicken was presented cold as it sat on the counter for about 20 mins, I sent this back but... Amazed by so many favourable reviews. 10 of us ate here and all complained about the over salty food having waited nearly an hour for it, and witnessing other tables being served. To their credit we were offered some nibbles to keep us going. Service and staff not especially friendly and no apology for our disappointment despite making it clear... More

With nobody touting for business outside, this was less touristy than most in the area. All depends on what you are looking for, I suppose, but I liked this restaurant. Good service, nice chicken, a pleasant experience with a local feel.

Found this restaurant by accident. I was walking down Rua Portas with my family and getting approached by many restaurant waiters to come into their restaurants. They're usually holding menus in 10 languages. As we tried to walk through this gauntlet of pushy waiters, I see one waiter outside his establishment standing at the door not approaching anyone. So I... More

Really nice restaurant amongst all the tourist joints. Was recommended to me by someone else and didn't dissapoint. Service was great and chicken was lovely. Not as spicy as I was expecting but still very tasty and relatively inexpensive.

We had a nice diner in this restaurant. Great host that was very helpfull so that we could make good choice. The meat is grilled in the restaurant and was very tasty. A good 'vinho grande' made the meal complete. Speciality of the house is grilled chicken. The front view of the restaurant is not the common commercial look you... More

Glad I hadn't read any of the previous review . We found this restaurant by walking about unlike the others they hadn't foisted their menu upon us. They allowed us to look inside before deciding whether we wanted to eat there, it was very clean all the staff were extremely attentive.yes they brought bread as happens in all restaurants we... Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
