We had a very good meal tonight. We had fish, dessert and a bottle of the house wine. Service and food were excellent. Just a very good local restaurant in Alfama.

If you are looking for typical Portuguese food in an extremely friendly environment this is the place to go. It's not a gourmet joint but the price/value ratio is more than o.k. Especially if you like steak - they serve it on a hot stone plate so you can perfect it to your liking.

We had 2 fantastic meals here. The atmosphere is brilliant, the staff are so friendly and funny, waiters constantly entertaining the kids with lots of tricks. Most people had the steak on a stone, where you cook your own meat on the stone. Chicken dish very succulent. Always busy. Would definitely recommend it . A little gem

Delicious freshly cooked food and a very good wine menu. Ask the very knowledgeable staff if you need help selecting wine. Great service - fab evening - huge quantities.

I came upon this great spot 2 years ago traveling with my husband. food was great so I am back again with sisters. We arrived early so no wait for a table. I ordered the dorado which was brought to the table for me to look at before it was grilled to perfection. It came with a large amount of... More

Recommended by a local, the restaurant served great food for those looking for quality and value. Meal commenced with warm bread and warm dipping goats cheese followed by main courses of dorado and steak on hot rock. Authentic local fare served in friendly unpretentious surroundings washed down with a bottle of Mateus rose. Really enjoyed the food and the dining... More

We went to this restaurant on the basis of the Tripadvisor reviews. The first impression is not that good, with the appearance of a standard café/restaurant with very bright lighting. Appearances can clearly be deceptive. We chose garlic prawns, shared between two, followed by the Cataplana for 2 people - a seafood dish served in a copper cataplana dish. We... More

In a word; stunning. Value for money, entertaining and friendly and above all, stunning food. The grilled seafood was delicious. Appropriately seasoned and they're obviously not precious about the salt. Yay! Highlight was the Cataplana, a seafood stew in a mouth-watering broth. And I mean that. My mouth is still watering from the memory! Must go.

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
