Real Portuguese food with an excellent selection of both meat and fish dishes. Huge portions. Excellent service with friendly waiting staff.

Walked in on Saturday night and they found us a spot to eat. Staff was very friendly and very nice. The food was very good and worth the price.

The location is perfectly located close to Rossio square in a live area. I would consider this restaurant a 'toursty seafood restaurant' rather than just a seafood restaurant and that not a negative thing to say! The seafood was good and generously served, slightly dry, especially the fish. The vegetables were very cooked and I think they used more oil... More

Situated in the old town in Lisbon this restaurant continued the old town atmosphere with blue and white picture tiled walls (that description does not do it justice!) Seafood is a speciality with 'fresh' meaning fresh. All food is prepared to order so be prepared to wait. I ordered the grilled octopus prepared simply with olive oil and garlic and... More

They fitted us in without reservation - food, service, price and fado entertainment were all very good. The best oyster I have ever tasted. Be warned however - if you want chips rather than boiled potatoes ask for french fries - ask for chips and you get a large pile of (very nice) crisps !

Centrally located and frequented by tourists, it may be hard to imagine that this restaurant was the meeting place for Lisbon’s artists and intellectuals in the late 19th century. But a reproduction of Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro’s painting “The Lion’s Group” (1885) is a testament and reminder of such gatherings. After a 4 –hour walking tour, it was particularly pleasant to... You have to have a reservation if you want to have dinner at this restaurant. We tried two times and opted for lunch. It was spectacular. We had as an appetizer Presunto de Pata Negra and Cataplana de Mariscos for two as an entree and it is difficult to put into words how good it was.

Even though I was skeptical at first as it is quite touristy around, it is a very good restaurant. The oysters were such a standout that we went twice in 5 days. The other food we tried was also very good. Service was excellent one night and very good the next. A nice little patio out the side and a... More

This classic styled restaurant is great for fish lovers! You can pick the fish you like, they grill it dir you and serve it in a professional manner. The price you pay is well worth the money. The staff is friendly and correct but doesn't always speak very good English, nevertheless you'll be fine. Well recommend for a nice grilled... More

This restaurant is one of my favourites that we visited when we were in Lisbon for a week. The atmosphere in this place is great and it seems to be busy all the time. The decor is lovely with traditional Portuguese tiling and exposed brick walls. There is a relaxed but also unique and special feel to the restaurant. When... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
