We went here with a group of 8 and we all really enjoyed the awesome food and lovely outdoor sitting area. The service was super friendly and when they missed something they came back and fixed it asp and said sorry (which is just so very important). We had some mixed starters and my mom just loved the cheese so... More

This restaurant has a great little courtyard that gets busy for lunch. Food was good, non-traditional and restaurant had a good craft beer option. Perfect stop while exploring the Chiado area.

We went here for lunch after seeing the recommendation in our lonely planet book. Upon arriving, my boyfriend said "this is it?" But when entering, you see dark but cozy decor, and follow the hallway to a beautiful terrace in the back. The food and service were great. It was a lovely experience!

We were so excited about this place, I literally had Fabulas tagged as a "must" place to visit in Lisbon add recommended by a travel guide. But I have never been so disappointed with a restaurant, specially in Portugal. My companion gave me the tagline for this review: "we should have gone for pizza" which happens to be next door... Lisbon breathes stories, drama, fado and a sweet melancholic scent that seduces almost everyone I know. Fabulas promised to continue this journey into the mysterious hills by the river. Instead, we got disappointment. A place with so many possible secrets throws at you only sad and dated emptiness. In addition, the staff is cold and inefficient, and the food is... More

It is a lovely place and has the potential to be a fabulous place. We ordered a starter which was great and we were looking for the mains. We waited for an hour between starter and mains, with apologies but no food. We were waiting for 4 salads and a toastie! The 4 salads arrived but we still then had... More

I stumbled across this place whilst wondering into downtown Lisbon. I'm so glad I found it as it was fabulous. The service was amazing, food was lush and the surroundings were beautiful. Such the perfect place for a spot of lunch in the sun... Hidden gem and if I was back then I would be sure to go back here... More

The restaurant was recommended in a magazine so we decided to try it. It's not easy to find as it's tucked away down a side street with outdoor seating in a secluded courtyard. The easiest way to describe how to find it is down an alley way off Rua Garrett in the Baixa Chiado area between the Nike & Massimo... More

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
