Looking bad I did not give my opinion about Terreiro do Paço. It is my point of daily passage, a privilege. The square with its grandeur and historical symbolism make it one of the great attractions of Lisbon. Bathed by river Tejo receives all with a magnificent view around and with huge terraces and restaurants. A must for anyone visiting... More

Different and stylish themed restaurant based around the notion of canned fish. Cans are everywhere, on the walls, in the lights etc! But the dishes are excellent, the wines superb, and staff excellent, with knowledge and enthusiasm. Try the fish platter, and enjoy!

A barren space in the old days where commerce was the main activity and unloading the goods that arrived on the vessels. Later on it was tarmacadam and made into the present Praca do Comercio overlooking the river Tajus. In its middle there is the monument to King José.

I went there to have a dinner with a few colleagues from work. Their facilities are beautiful, and a great plus is the view on the ocean, as well as the praça do commercio. I really enjoyed having this dinner there, because their food was delicious, and because I overall appreciate how portuguese people "enjoy" food and wine, and take... More

This was where the banquet of our international congress took place. We were served a three course meal with champagne and I had opted for a vegetarian menu. The ambiance and general look and feel was excellent, but the choices for vegetarian food were very less.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
