Came here for lunch whilst visiting Lisbon, as read a recommendation in The Guardian. We were really impressed with the service, the food and the price. We went for the set menu which consisted of soup, fish and meat, and a pasteis de natas with cinnamon ice cream- and also a glass of wine and a coffee! I think it... More

We went to the Tagide Wine Bar which is next door to the main restaurant. It was Freedom Day and a bank holiday so we expected higher prices. So we were surprised that they were still offering their lunchtime special of a 3 course lunch for less than €14. We had a green salad followed by sea bass, followed by... More

We had booked on the basis of the good reviews. Nice setting, strange features. A flat screen TV showing LuxTV ( why?), an overly loud sax player early in the evening and no tapas as such. Very limited wines by the glass from Portugal and pretty ordinary food. It could be much better than it is. Probably OK for the... More

Hello, Thanks for choosing our Restaurant. We are sorry that some of our settings have not matched your taste! Let us try to justify some of your criticism: You ask us why do we have LuxTV channel on. I think its probably because we like the contents of that particular channel, we sometimes also put “kitchenTV” or “travel channel”, we... More

My husband and I were in Lisbon just wandering around, when we walked past this place. It's a little off the beaten path, so we decided to check it out. We ended up having one of our best lunches of our 2 week trip here! The inside is very well decorated. If possible, ask for a table near their large... More

We went to the "bistro" side for lunch and loved it, especially the salads and fish. The best part of this restaurant is that it's right close to the sights of Chiado but on a calm side street with no crowds. And the view is wonderful!

We were walking by this little restaurant on our way to something, stepped back and couldn't resist walking in for a nice lunch. The place is very nicely decorated and the views are nothing short off spectacular. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine from the nice wine-list. There are also many open wines. The tapas were very good and service... More

The food & service is only rivaled by the view of Lisbon in this amazing restaurant. The menu we got was very well composed, I found myself enjoying eating food that I would not usually appreciate very much. The wine served with the food complimented the dishes perfectly, and the staff was very attentive and helpful. This restaurant is one... More

An excellent tapas meal with friends. The black pudding variation is a must try. Papa Figos white wine complimented the lot

Went for 7 pm meal as had not booked in advance but checked out the reviews. We were not disappointed, really good food with great service. We were in the upstairs restaurant which feels very upmarket, great place so highly recommend.

Had dinner here on our last night in Lisbon. Great food and an extensive wine list. Would definitely recommend for fine dining in Lisbon. I saw a previous review concerning dissent about the vegetarian options, but when we were there they had two on the menu and my wife ordered one. No complaints. I had the salt cod and it... More

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
