Stopped in at around 10 on a Saturday morning to grab a few items. It had caught our eye another day because you can watch them making the pastries in the window. We tried a merveilleaux (small cake) and a cramique (Belgian brioche). The merveilleaux...was too sweet for me but it's nice that it's small. The cramique was lightly sweet but I thought it was too dense. Maybe their other items are better? It was still mesmerizing to watch everything being made though.More

We didn’t know about this pâtisserie until we stayed at the Merveilleux hotel below which the patisserie is located. We happily discovered that the breakfast the hotel offers is provided by and in the patisserie. Coffee, orange juice, the very best scrambled eggs I’ve ever...experienced, ham, cheese, fresh croissants, and other pastries provided a breakfast that lasted us all day. Im already looking forward to our next morning.More

This place was a quick stop for breakfast one morning. The sweet rolls (can’t remember the name) were so good we came back the next morning! You won’t be disappointed!

Unbelievable to wake up to a warm croissant. Warm raisin buns and a warm pain au chocolate. It was the best. Highly recommend to start your morning

To eat yeasty raisin rolls and a similar chocolate pastry fresh out of the oven; was a wonderful morning tea treat. Payment is only by card but the server spoke English to assist me. We will seek out this chain in our further local travels.

Aux Merveilleux de Fred is a pastry shop that originated in France but has quite a few branches around Belgium including this place along Rue du Marché Aux Herbes in Brussels. Opening hours are 8am to 7pm daily. Just look for the elegant bakery with...a large chandelier and open baking area which you can view from outside. There is usually a queue lined up in the small shop space so be ready to wait a bit outside if there is no available space when you arrive. There are a handful of bakery products here but what we like are their famous merveilleux (marvelous) cakes. These are meringue like cakes with soft filling. They are very light, delicate and just delicious. Merveilleux cakes can be purchased individually or in small sets of 2,4,6 or more. They will box your purchases for take-away. All flavours we have tried are nice but we are most keen on the white chocolate with speculoos. During this visit, we tried pistachio for the first time. It was also nice. I recommend buying 2+ for each person as they are very light. Take some back to your hotel room and you can enjoy them as afternoon treats or late night desserts before going to bed.More

Excited to order 2 croissants based on great reviews. Saw they looked a bit dark from overbaking but hoped for better. Biting into it, was not fluffy and flaky at all. Inside was really dense and outside a bit dry. Super disappointed

This place in the centre of Brussels is an amazing little corner with sweets. Definitely try the brioche au chocolat, a fluffy dough you won't forget.

Tried their brioche bread with raisins and it was delicious. Soft, slightly sweet and doughy. Did not try their meringues.
