I used to enjoy Bij Clarence but was disappointed at my last visit. Slow service and charged €1.50 to have Oat milk instead of normal milk in a flat white ... ok I can understand an extra charge but the going rate in the rest...of the city seems to be €0.50 extra .. charging €3.00 extra on two coffees of €6.00 is going a bit too far. I won’t be lunching there again.More

I've been going to Bij Clarence for years. A warm environment, good tasty food with some Dutch classics, salads, soups, consistent quality food and service and good coffee. There is one large table that you may find you are sharing or a number of smaller...tables as well as a window bench for quiet companionable computer work or reading the news or just watching the street. The outside padded bench with a warm rug is cosy with a hot drink on a cold Dutch day. The area is justifiably becoming well known for its interesting shops, markets, city village style community and design. I highly recommend a visit.More

Great bistro like place with excellent food, fresh and delicious, different from your usual tosti and sandwiches. The staff is very friendly and I love the atmosphere. The area is also nice to discover, with vintage and design shops, thrift shops and small grocery stores.

From 30 November 2016, BijClarence - a popular lunch room - is also open after 5 pm for great tapas and wine. The cook is a great guy, Raffa, from Spain. His food is refined and authentic. He just loves what he does. Couldn't get...enough of his 'carne iberico'. A must!! Order a plate for only €20 for 2 and share.More

I've lived in the Piet Heinstraat for about a year, but that was before this cafe was opened. The street has some small shops, not very special ones though and several cafe's, so a street to remember if you for instance stay at the Hilton,...Carlton, the hampshire hotel, court garden hotel, or hotel sebel, because it's close.. plenty of options for brunch/ lunch. This cafe doesn't have a lot of options to sit outside. In front they have a few seats, but don't expect any sun there, so not the ideal place to sit on a terrace... That said there is plenty of room inside. The place looks clean, not too trendy or too old fashioned, just a relaxed environment. The staff is friendly and the food that I had was fine... Not that I took something special, just a tosti, a double espresso and a ginger tea... They have plenty of other things on the menu. Their prices are not too expensive, but also not the cheapest that i had in The Hague, still I found it fair and would go back if I happen to be in the neighbourhood. It is an option to consider.... Something you could do in combination with a visit to the Mesdag Collection, Panorama Mesdag or the Peace Palace.More

I love to come here regularly for breakfast or lunch during the weekends with a magazine or book and relax. Great people working there. The owner is a very nice guy who's always up for a chat with his customers. The cakes are homemade and...products locally bought. If you're in the neighborhood you should definitely give this a chance.More

Perfect place for your morning fix of coffee and croissant (or something else, they have a wide selection of dishes) and morning paper or for lunch with friends. I go there often and have never been disappointed. The spanish baguette with chorizo is made with the...real stuff, the soto ajam (indonesian chicken soup) has helped me through a few colds. They do have wine by the glass as well.More

Great coffee bar and lunch location in a cosy street nearby the city centre of The Hague. Several nice dishes and cakes are available if you are hungry, for work you can use a decent wifi connection.

Warning - this place is not for carnivores :). This neighbourhood cafe is cramped inside but has some outdoor benches in the front of the cafe. The clientèle must be more catered for vegetarians. Portions are huge, coffee is okay. The place offers some health...drinks. I did find the place pricey for what it had to offer. It's not really easy to bring kids to this place though - very limited choice for kids if your kids don't eat that much vegetables :).More

We finally discovered this very nice cosy cafe / brakfast / lunch / etc. place in Piet Heinstraat. First of all the place is very cute, the walls have been kept almost bare, with the bricks visible, giving it a very nice simple look. For...food, a bit of everything that you would expect, as well as some more original sandwiches. On our first visit we kept it simple, but it was very tasty. Next time we'll try the more original stuff and I'll post an update about it. For service: very nice and friendly staff, efficient, welcoming (even though we took quite some place with the pram)More
