We went in here before going to the ice bar as it was nearby and we were a little rushed. The menu looked good and our food was really good but the place is a little run down. We'd eat here again.

This restaurant looks like an excellent one from the outside. Clean and modern with a decent amount of space inside but don't let this fool you into thinking it's a good restaurant. Me and my partner were seated straight away. We looked at the menu and chose our drinks and food fairly quickly. The only problem was none of the... More

This place does look like a common diner but the food was very good and the price-quality relationship in order. The green pepper steak was excellent.

Visited this restaurant with my partner and two friends. We were seated straight away and given our menus (good). We looked at the menu and decided which drinks and food we wanted. Around 20-25 minutes later we still hadn't been been visited to order anything so we decided to try and get a waitress or bar tender's attention - BAD... More

Ciao signorina in this place native speaking Italian will not be rare. This doesn't mean that they do not speak english. Food is like it should be in any restaurant. Tasty colorful and good. You will also get liter of tap water if you will order. Soup is like your mother should cook. They could improve in deserts but they... More

I don't know if Canaletto is a chain restaurant but we eat at the Canaletto located on Amstelstraat near Rembrandt Square in October 2014. Maybe they moved? Hubby and I ate here on a Sunday night around 7:30 pm. No line-up and were seated right away. The menu is large with pizzas, pastas, meat and seafood options. We asked for... More

We fancied pizza so popped in during our visit to Amsterdam. It wasn't terribly busy so we reckoned it would be a good place to stop. Should have seen the warning signs when we were ignored for quarter of an hour... we finally gave our order for starters and main courses and two cokes. We got our drinks pretty quickly... More

Visited with friends and a couple of us had ribs (very good) and a couple of us standard pasta dishes (nothing special). The restaurant does not serve any alcohol. Nothing special.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
