Stumbled on the bistro looking for somewhere for dinner. Down some steps, the restaurant is quiet and cosy. Service was unhurried but efficient and the kitchen is open plan at the back so the chef can be seen at work. Our starters were delicious, and the fish main course was excellent, as was the beef opted for by one of... More

This was a pleasant and satisfying dinner in a beautiful (and relatively quiet) neighborhood on the Keizersgracht. We both chose stuffed artichokes as a first course and fillet of duck in an orange sauce for the main. Served with this menu were a salad, broccoli, and potatoes (fries AND baked, strangely enough). All dishes were very good, complemented by a... More

As mentioned above this french restaurant is rather dark (located in a basement) and the decoration was probably modern 40 years ago, but as a bistro it is fine with a decent selection of typical french food. One point of criticism is the smoked salmon starter plate, only three small pieces and definitely overpriced. So avoid that one, other portions... More

My wife and I were probably the only two foreigners when we entered the portals of this delightful and charming little bistro. We had no reservation as this was the first night in the city and we were staying at a local hotel. The attentive staff could not have been more friendly. The food was excellent, tasty and well-cooked. My... More

Superb food, friendly service and great local atmosphere sum this place up. We stumbled across the excellent find whilst trying to find something unique in the heart of Amsterdam. It did not disappoint! Excellent menu with plenty of variety and a Waiter / Manager who was to happy to accommodate our picky changes to the set menu. Superb.

I had the most amazing meal in Bonjour. The onion soup is to die for. I could easily have had another 2 helpings if I didn't have to make room for the duck which was equally delicious! I will be coming here every time I visit the city. Very memorable food!

Hi French Food Lovers, I was there today with my mum and it was fantastic. We ordered fish of the day and a tournedos with sauce roquefort. Before the dishes arrived, they bring us some warm bread and homemade butter with some ail and persil in it. Then I felt already that's a nice start. Then the dishes came. The... More

Went back after one year and the chef still recognized me. Always nice! I chose a glass of white wine while going through the menu. Went for the filet pure or ossenhaas with a glass of red. This is actually enough because you always get toasted bread with garlic butter. This resulted in a bill of 32,50 Euro. The difference... More

Description
Open since 1972, Bistro Bonjour French restaurant has an outdoor terrace overlooking the lovely Keizersgracht canal. Set around halfway between Waterlooplein and the Rijksmuseum, the restaurant's central location makes it a popular spot with tourists visiting the local area. Magere Brug - a typically Dutch wooden bridge - is also just around the corner. The menu is a celebration of traditional French cuisine and changes seasonally. Appetisers include steamed mussels, fried frog's legs and French onion soup. Mains are based on fish and meat, though there are vegetarian options, including a dish of the day. The desserts are also just as mouthwatering: chocolate mousse, crêpe flambée and crème brulée are just some of the options. To wash it all down, there is a good selection of French wines. In the evenings Bistro Bonjour is lit by candlelight - a very romantic way to enjoy a meal out in Amsterdam.
