Small, cozy and centrally located restaurant. There is no written menu, the menu is given by the staff verbally. Just be patient! you might have to wait 15-20 minutes until they come and tell you what the menu is. Overall: Food is nice, friendly service...More

Found out about this place on a internet review and we were so glad that we went. The Indian meatloaf was to die for - one of our best meals in Amsterdam! The beef, goats cheese and strawberry sauce is fabulous (and a new combination...More

Stopped for lunch on a chilly Thursday. Though it's in an inconspicuous spot, the place was busy. It has about 15 tables and a bar. Enjoyed a flavorful Middle East-inspired eggplant and chickpea soup, which was both hot as well as a bit spicy. The...More

Just my kind of place when I’m touring abroad: small, simple, cozy, charming, centrally located yet a little bit hidden. Locals meet tourists yet NOT a tourist trap. He runs the kitchen, she runs the saloon. There’s no written menu, she will tell you at...More

Do take in a visit here to enjoy very freshly prepared delicious food. Great vibe in restaurant. Had to have a drink at the bar but seated within half an hour. If you can - have the ‘to die for’ pear tart.

Three of us (adults) enjoyed a long, leisurely dinner in this homey restaurant. We waited at the bar until we could get a table - it’s small - and it was worth the wait. No one rushes you. I had mussels for an appetizer. My...More

Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the
Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its
saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to
view some of the city’s most picturesque canals,
historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples
of traditional local architecture – not to mention
Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist
temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some

That happens in most kitchens but cross contaminating with gluten free foods must not happen. Would my wife be ok to eat at your restaurant? Thanks

Van Kerkwijk, situated at the Nes 41 just behind Dam square, is a classic Amsterdam cafe and restaurant where you can eat and drink from early in the morning till late in the evening. Van Kerkwijk sisters have chosen a personal approach. That's why a menu doesn't exist and your options are presented at the table by your waiter. Van Kerkwijk stands for quality food and drinks in an urban atmosphere. Characteristic, easy going, value for money. You feel at home between the regular customers who keep returning for the varied menu and the relax atmosphere. Van Kerkwijk doesn't take reservations, walk in for a table or wait at the bar with a good beer or wine.
