As we sat we asked for the menu, which was prompted refused (nicely of course). The waiter will seat at the table with you and let you know what they have for starters and main courses. We selected the suggested starters which were quite good...More

We came across this bistro type eatery by chance. The sample menu was on a board in the entrance, so with a quick glance we decided to give it a try. The place has a relaxed vibe. The walls are decorated with posters, the lighting...More

You had no patience...no talk with your wife...and only paid attention to your phone while we were explaining the menu to you...very rude!

The meatloaf in this place is so yummy with the sweet and sour sauce they serve. I tried the beer which was also so good. It’s a nice place for a sitting dinner in Amsterdam.

There is nothing to add to the 2000 reviews except it was a nice warm experience very close to our hotel where we stayed 7 nights and were disapponited....but the pear pie baked at home by the chef's mother would not be forgotten. When ever...More

This is a busy restaurant and you might have to wait for a table. But there is a bar where you can get a drink while you wait. There is no written menu, so after you're seated a member of staff comes to your table...More

This is our favourite restaurant in Amsterdam. It is cosy, friendly and welcoming - as you say in dutch, "gezellig". There is no written menu, so the waiter or waitress comes and whispers the dishes of the day at your table. You can't beat it...More

We came to Van Kerkwijk for lunch in late August 2018. Service was great, we were seated almost immediately. Its a relatively small place so I’m assuming it fills up quickly at busy periods. The first thing you notice is there’s no written menu, the...More

We stumbled across this restaurant and we're so glad we did! We loved the food - absolutely divine - and the service was great too. It seems to be a family owned business so we were happy to support them. We had a lovely experience.

To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the
Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its
saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to
view some of the city’s most picturesque canals,
historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples
of traditional local architecture – not to mention
Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist
temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some

That happens in most kitchens but cross contaminating with gluten free foods must not happen. Would my wife be ok to eat at your restaurant? Thanks

Van Kerkwijk, situated at the Nes 41 just behind Dam square, is a classic Amsterdam cafe and restaurant where you can eat and drink from early in the morning till late in the evening. Van Kerkwijk sisters have chosen a personal approach. That's why a menu doesn't exist and your options are presented at the table by your waiter. Van Kerkwijk stands for quality food and drinks in an urban atmosphere. Characteristic, easy going, value for money. You feel at home between the regular customers who keep returning for the varied menu and the relax atmosphere. Van Kerkwijk doesn't take reservations, walk in for a table or wait at the bar with a good beer or wine.
