Do take in a visit here to enjoy very freshly prepared delicious food. Great vibe in restaurant. Had to have a drink at the bar but seated within half an hour. If you can - have the ‘to die for’ pear tart.

Three of us (adults) enjoyed a long, leisurely dinner in this homey restaurant. We waited at the bar until we could get a table - it’s small - and it was worth the wait. No one rushes you. I had mussels for an appetizer. My...More

There is no menu, you can sit and listen to the waiter explaining the 3 or 4 different starters and main courses. Vegetarian, fish and meat options are possible. We tasted the soup and then the beef with goat cheese and strawberry sauce (21,50€), with...More

Wonderful place to have lunch. It’s really busy, because of the good food and ambiance, but the waiting time is 5-15min. Really a hidden gem in Amsterdam. The menu is given by the staff verbally, which adds a really cozy feeling to the whole experience,...More

The concierge at our hotel suggested this place for dinner. He said the locals went to here. Perfect exactly what we’re looking for. This place was wonderful!! Get the steak with strawberry sauce... I know it sounds crazy but it was delicious!!

very nice people, they customise the menu according to your needs. it's packed, they don't do reservations, but the waiting time is smoothened with a drink at the tiny bar. food is good, would always go again,

What can be said about this place that hasn’t already been said! The reason we ventured off to Van Kerkwijk was due to its excellent reviews on here. It did not disappoint! It was a Tuesday night and we had to wait about 40 minutes....More

3 of us arrived peak time on a Saturday night, and there is no capacity to book - but I like that. If you are happy to wait at the bar for half an hour, (and why not?) then the wait will be well worth...More

Lunch was very nice here today - had to wait quite a while for the waiter to come over as they don’t have a printed menu, the waiter tells you verbally what is on it. That’s quite original in and of itself. The Italian tomato...More

That happens in most kitchens but cross contaminating with gluten free foods must not happen. Would my wife be ok to eat at your restaurant? Thanks

Van Kerkwijk, situated at the Nes 41 just behind Dam square, is a classic Amsterdam cafe and restaurant where you can eat and drink from early in the morning till late in the evening. Van Kerkwijk sisters have chosen a personal approach. That's why a menu doesn't exist and your options are presented at the table by your waiter. Van Kerkwijk stands for quality food and drinks in an urban atmosphere. Characteristic, easy going, value for money. You feel at home between the regular customers who keep returning for the varied menu and the relax atmosphere. Van Kerkwijk doesn't take reservations, walk in for a table or wait at the bar with a good beer or wine.
