Location and contact

Van Kerkwijk, situated at the Nes 41 just behind Dam square, is a classic Amsterdam cafe and restaurant where you can eat and drink from early in the morning till late in the evening. Van Kerkwijk sisters have chosen a personal approach. That's why a menu doesn't exist and your options are presented at the table by your waiter. Van Kerkwijk stands for quality food and drinks in an urban atmosphere. Characteristic, easy going, value for money. You feel at home between the regular customers who keep returning for the varied menu and the relax atmosphere. Van Kerkwijk doesn't take reservations, walk in for a table or wait at the bar with a good beer or wine.

The restaurant does not have a printed menu. The server lets you know what choices are available that evening. We shared mussels as an appetizer, they were prepared in wine and garlic and were very tasty. For the main course we tried the steak and...More

Great little restaurant in city centre. Nice friendly staff and delicious food. Reasonably priced (our meal can't up to about eur33 pet head with drinks). They could do with having a menu rather than explaining to you in person - nice touch though. Would really...More

We found this little place by chance. The place is buzzing. It is busy but very well run. A charming lady tells you the menu and takes your choices. The food was delicious and very well priced. I would recommend this to everyone.

No menu, no reservations. We waited 10-15 mins at the bar (which was fine with us). Waiter came and sat with us and made some recommendations, which were all excellent. The steak with goats cheese and strawberry sauce was a revelation! We didn’t even think...More

Found this restaurant on trip advisor. Walked in on a Friday night. Restaurant was packed with 4 tables waiting to be seated. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth the wait- food was delicious and authentic. Highly recommend

We were hungry and just picked out this restaurant for dinner with friends. We came there, were seated at the bar by friendly staff who recited the menu while we waited for our table. The meat was delicious, the atmosphere cozy and relaxed.

Went here on our last night in Amsterdam. The restaurant is down a side street so not in plain site. The waiters were lovely and friendly, they recite the menu to you. The food was amazing- had chicken and duck. Brownie for dessert was good...More

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of
tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists
and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the
best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe.
Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops
of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones
Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods
such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring

That happens in most kitchens but cross contaminating with gluten free foods must not happen. Would my wife be ok to eat at your restaurant? Thanks
