First - place. This restaurant is part of Amstel Hotel - famous 5 star hotel of Amsterdam. You can enjoy the drink outside on a big terrace. Dining takes place inside with magnificent view of Amstel river. Second - food. You can chose dishes from...More

The food, location and staff were perfect. My wife wanted a fine dining experience in Amsterdam and she got it. We couldn't fault the presentation and flavours we were given. We were a little bit out of place compared to the other diners. Apart from...More

Apart from some elements of the extensive set menu being a bit disappointing, the place has very poor acoustics. Combined with the occasional boorish patrons this can well conspire to seriously disturb your dinner - although tables are far apart, we had the 'pleasure' of...More

It's a matter of taste, but for me the interior and staff is a bit too formal and stiff. The location, the food and the wines are amazing!

We dined at this magnificent restaurant as our short but successful visit to Amsterdam came to a conclusion. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. La Rive is in a fantastic location with stunning views of the canal, especially at night, very romantic...More

A couple of things to start. First, we never stayed, we left before ordering. Second, Amsterdam sites no longer list this as a restaurant with a Michelin star. I was staying at the Amstel and am a spire ambassador of their rewards club. We were...More

I think smart causal is ok. We were in trousers and shirts but I also saw some people in jeans and shirts. The menu changes often but usually there are two menus and we were allowed to mix the menu if we wanted

Dear Anita & Ronald, Thank you for replying on my comment. I would like to only point out that you did not comment on my criticism towards the decoration of the restaurant that I characterised as mediocre. I think that you should pass my comment to your interior design architect who has done amazingly disappointing work for a restaurant that is willing to present itself on the luxury scale. The artwork hanging on the walls in the restaurant as well as the furniture are not according to the standards of a luxury hotel. Kind regards Georgios
