Busy and buzzy. A very good standard of food. Pricey - but not outrageous. Service excellent. Perhaps the lightest and tastiest pastry I have tasted for years (with prawns in a chive butter sauce).

We came across this restaurant when walking down one of the canals and were enchanted by all of the twinkly lights! We made a reservation for New Year's Day and were not disappointed by our first meal of 2017! The waitress was absolutely lovely and very friendly to chat to. She helped us with our wine choice as well as... More

RESTAURANT The food scene has been changing in the last five years in Amsterdam and you can definitely see it in this lovely restaurant FOOD Good, French with a twist. Nothing new but consistent good food cooked... More

Situated in a perfect location the restaurant oozes charm when viewed from the outside on a dark December evening with the candles twinkling inside. Decided to dine based solely upon the appearance and location. We were happy to then have the experience enhanced by top notch food and service. We only had three nights in Amsterdam and it was tempting... More

We always visit de Belhamel every time we visit Amsterdam. The restaurant is on Brouwersgracht, one of the most beautiful spots in Amsterdam. The food here is fantastic, whether here for lunch or dinner. Outside seating if visiting in warmer months. I would advise booking as it is usually very busy and people get turned away all the time.

I ate the duck-liver as as starter (it was delicious, together with the glas of Tokay) and the skin baked pike-perch as main course. Also very good. The wine list is simple ande better wines are not cheap (but that is always the case in Holland). The service was very friendly and accurate. The prices are very reasonable. I will... More

Description
Restaurant De Belhamel is located at the junction of two of Amsterdam’s most beautiful canals, the Brouwersgracht (“Brewers’ canal”) and the Herengracht (“Gentlemen’s canal”). It is one of the city’s prettiest spots, quietly situated at the edge of the Jordaan area and offering splendid views on both canals. In summer lunch and dinner are served outside in these lovely surroundings. Not only the location, also the restaurant’s interior is unique: the venue is entirely decorated in the early 20th century Art-Nouveau style, with many original details. The restaurant and entresol give a view over the canals, the bar offers a fine opportunity to enjoy an aperitif before dinner. From 2007 onwards Michelin has rewarded De Belhamel with a ‘Bib Gourmand’.We are looking forward to welcoming you at De Belhamel.
