I was craving some Indian food and happened to walk by this restaurant several times during my visits to Amsterdam so thought to give them a try. We were not disappointed! Food was delicious and staff were very attentive and friendly. Prices were also reasonable for the quality and quantity, would definitely pay them another visit. As my title suggests,... More

I went here because I read a lot of great reviews. The restaurant is cute and good ambience for a group or solo meal, but I found the food flavor a little lack luster. That being said if you asked them to up the dose of the spice a little, I think you would enjoy it. The garlic naan wasn't... More

The jewel in the crown is something that makes you think of the Indian sub continent and it is also a fitting title for this place. Like many curry's on the continent you do not get the chilli heat or the same way of dining with side dishes etc. but a lamb jalfrizi, naan bread and onion Bhaji as a... More

Fantastic curry, comments from friends I was eating with "succulent chicken so tasty", "wow how much garlic is on this naan bread" "yummy".

This place was awesome. It's very difficult to find authentic Indian in many European cities. This was a gem! The wait staff was prompt, and the owner was a doll. She was impressed that I liked the spicy Indian food. When the waiter took my rider, he asked if I wanted the full spice, and I said bring it on.... More

I haven't been for a curry in Amsterdam in years, due to the fact that every one I'd been to before was over-priced and pretty terrible. The curries always seemed to be WAY too spicy to hide that there wasn't much else going on. Thankfully, this place was the opposite. We got seated straight away and once the drinks arrived... More

My wife & I went to Amsterdam for a long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We booked the Taj Indian after reading previous reviews and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was homely and genuine. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was spot on - very tasty but with a spicy edge. I had my usual Chicken Madras... More

We ate at this restaurant a few days ago during our trip to Amsterdam and it was the best Chicken Korma I've ever had! The staff were really friendly and prices very reasonable, highly recommended!

Just come back from a week in Amsterdam, this was by far the best restaurant I visited! It was located near the Rijksmuseum, which was convenient as we were staying at the Apollo hotel. Although the restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, the interior was lovely with chandeliers, candles, and Hindu statues. It also wasn't overpriced like most... More

Staying in De Pijp

Neighbourhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
