Having just arrived in Amsterdam from a loooong international flight, I needed a relaxing dinner. This place fit the bill - delicious and healthy dinner with a very respectable house wine in a cozy little neighborhood spot. I had the spaghetti alla puttanesca and it was just the right amount of spicy. The arugula salad was great, too. The staff... More

Came here after running the Amsterdam Marathon as it was next to our hotel and was just what we wanted. The pasta was perfect and full of flavour. The staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming. Couldn't have asked for a better meal to end a fantastic day. Thank you

Tired out after a day exploring we decided to find somewhere local to eat rather than go back into town and came across this unassuming little place. It doesn't look much from the outside but has a lovely, welcoming and very chilled feel once you're sat down. Our waiter was perfect, attentive, knowledgeable and friendly without being at all intrusive... More

We had lunch here. It was empty, staff was not interested with us. Not special about the food. I wouldn't prefer one again.

You might miss this place since it's not easily seen from the outside and the atmosphere is not very attractive at first sight, but then you'll miss a delicious lunch! Their sandwiches are super fresh and made with very tasty Italian ingredients, some of which they also sell. I haven't been here for a dinner yet, but I've heard good... More

Great atmosphere in this little restaurant next to the zoo. Very attentive service from the waitresses, chef happy to show the kitchen to our daughter. Food is mostly home made. We had really tasty meatballs, cold meat platter, mushroom and truffle ravioli and duck with beans. All really tasty! They even offered ice cream to our daughter. We'll definitely come... More

At the junctions next to the zoo, this lovely little place is great for a light bite after a stroll through the zoo. Good choice of quality fillings

This Italian restaurant may lack a bit of atmosphere but that is well compensated by the quality of the food. Delicious dishes make you forget about your surroundings. Staff is friendly but could improve a lot by their knowledge of the dishes. But once again, the dishes are very tasty and i will be back.

The wine was good and the place nice and cozy. However, the octopus (starter) was very sour. It had more taste of lemon than octopus itself, the portion was very poor. Spaghetti were good but nothing special and portion are very special. We choose not to go for the dessert.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
