A gem near the Nieumarkt, 10mins walk from Dam Square. The Spare ribs are massive and really good! Try the Witte Antonia beer...!

Restaurant 'De Bekeerde Suster' is such a good restaurant, I don't feel like trying something new. The vegetarian 'bonenschotel' is really nice! Note; fries and bread need to be ordered separately!

We came here with a party of seven. Besides the special beers, they also serve lager beer. I had three De Geweaghde Bock-beers and trust, that's enough for the evening. I asked for Vintrus, but they only serve that one in the winter. Atmosphere is good, and the place is well maintained and looks beautiful. Prices are okay. Place is... More

On a rainy day we stopped in this cozy place for a beer. We chose a seat upstairs, where we could watch out the window. Got a beer sampler and a selection of cheeses and their warm bread. All were good. Great atmosphere, food and beer.

We went in for Burgers. Wait staff has been awesome. Ask for Samira. She's fast and works efficiant. The kitchen, however, is slow. 30min for a burger slow. Understaffed. Manager...step up!

We were recommended to go here and we weren't disappointed. It's a limited menu but having all ordered something different from it, it's more than enough! All of our meals were satisfying (I had a chicken skewer with peanut sauce: delicious) but you also got coleslaw and other vegetables as well as real chips! The prices were comparable, service great... More

Popped in for lunch on a Friday. Got a table by the window so great place for people watching. The food we ordered was prepared very quickly and was very tasty. Washed down with a nice Belgian beer or 2. Great place for lunch.

Great beers - I had the flight of 4 x 30cl for £8.20. Helpful, friendly staff who described the beers clearly. Had our first Bitterballen which were excellent (not bitter but deep fried, lightly herbed potato balls with a very tiny piece of meat inside) and complemented the beers. The terrace out front looks over a canal by a market... More

Description
The Bekeerde Suster is a brewpub in the city centre of Amsterdam, close to the Nieuwmarkt. The brewery is at the back of the pub and is worth watching. If you're Lucky you might be able to see the brewmaster live in action...Besides the brewery we offer another 8 beers on tap and at least 45 bottled from breweries all over the world. We serve a good quality lunch and dinner menu, with some classic dishes.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
