We had dinner at Alpenrose on our last night in Zurich. Between three of us we enjoyed the meatloaf, oven roasted beef, and the chicken as our entrees and we all selected spaetzle for our side. The food was prepared to perfection- I’m not sure...I’ve ever left a plate so spotless. Everything we tried, from the salads through dessert was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. This was our best dining experience of our stay.More
I had dinner at the Alpenrose in December 2019, together with a friend of mine and we had a lovely time, full of new experiences for the nose and the mouth...The reception was warm and professional, the service very attentive and the food and wines...were of the greatest quality. Overall, spending some three hours in a Jugendstil restaurant with a very dynamic cheffe was exactly what we needed at the end of a busy week. Thank you so much!!More

Alpenrose is a must for any visitor to Zürich. While especially delightful during the holidays season, the restaurant’s atmosphere verges on the feeling of returning to your beloved Swiss relative’s home for fine dining. Our lack of local language did not hinder us in any...way and we enjoyed a delicious meal that we would quickly recommend to anyone else we knew visiting Zürich. The service was excellent, and our server made very effort that we feel welcomed and happy with our experience. I started with the pumpkin and apple soup, which was silky but light. The combination was unexpectedly good, and while I knew I should have saved room for my main course, I had to finish her soup. I had the lamb shank with spaztli, both of which were excellent. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the spatzli feather-light and delicious. My companions had salads to start that were crisp and fresh, and then the meatloaf and the trout. We made a valiant effort to clean our plates so I highly recommend that you come hungry!More
It was perfect on a rainy evening. Great food, comfortable, cozy decor and extremely friendly and efficient service. Definitely some locally sourced items like game dishes. We had walked to nearly everywhere we ate in Zurich, but this restaurant required a $15 Uber ride each...way. It was worth it!More
Delighted to sit at the window seats when we came in without reservation. Very good & friendly service given. We enjoyed the homemade ice tea with orange slice & mint which is refreshing! We had the soup of the day which is vegetable creamy soup,...roasted veal liver & meat loaf with mash potato, potato skin & grilled vegetables. We like it so much that we decide to leave the change as tips (which we haven't done in this entire trip to Switzerland). Good memories of our last night here in Zurich, Switzerland.More
I recently had a solo dinner at Alpenrose on my last night in Zurich. The food (meatloaf with porcini mushroom gravy, spaetzli, seasonal vegetables, walnut ice cream) was perfectly prepared and the service was gracious. The other diners looked as happy as I was; the...atmosphere in the restaurant was one of ease and contentment. I very much look forward to eating at Alpenrose on future trips to Zurich.More
Their ingredients are farm to table. The cuisine is traditional Swiss with modern updates. In winter, you need reservations a week ahead of time. I had trout, which was served whole. Good preparation made it easy to remove skin and bones. White wine risotto came...with it. My wife had baked cauliflower. We shared other grilled veggies. Everything was very tasty. They are owned by a foundation which owns other hotels and restaurants. The foundation's mission is to provide on the job training to special needs adults and ready them for holding a job in hospitality. It is a pricey place but everything in Zurich is pricey.More
The Alpenrose is a traditional Swiss restaurant, serving delicious Swiss food and wine at reasonable prices. We started with a glass of Swiss Chasselas as a predinner drink. For entrée, the cucumber soup and green pea soup were both delicious. For main courses, the pink...lamb and homemade bratwurst sausages were prefect, served with mashed potato and vegetable. The suggestion of a local Swiss pinot noir (50 cl) was good – not the best wine we had in Switzerland, but good nonetheless for the price. The service was friendly, helpful and efficient. Brought a visiting friend here for the Swiss experience. I don't mind paying for good food but really, the food was pretty average. The soup of the day (carrot, celery) was forgettable. My chicken stuffed wih garlic was average, and small. The spatzli was dry...and I had to ask for more sauce. For the price of that dish, I could have Marco Pierre White steak in a Michelin star restaurant in London. A bottle of still water was CHF 11! My friend ordered the Aargau carrot cake. We expected a delicious moist cake full of carrot. What we got was a very dry cake with hardly any carrot but lots of grated coconut. I had a taste and that was enough. He could not finish it. And here was a guy who LOVES carrot cake. Service was good but foodwise, very disappointing. I kept thinking I could do much better. Would not return.More
