As the name suggests, this restaurant is in a converted tram depot which gives the place a lot of character. There is a small bar area and then a large restaurant area. We were there for a midweek lunch. It is a lively place with tables set out in long lines, so it has a very lively and sociable feel.... More

Even though the restaurant is a tourist attraction, locals and tourists sit together at the same table. No dissapointments, but also not a highlight. Worth a visit for the beer and view.

We had sausages, schnitzel with mushroom sauce, and roschti. Everything was wonderful. Lots of big communal tables. Great view of old town Bern from the window or porch. Best of all though, was the beer. The regular taps are great. And the special beers were superb (we had the white widow and were very impressed).

Altes proposal is a wide menu with local dishes and some proposals that mixed international food. Good quality and reasonable prices. Local beers and a fast and kind service complete the proposition.

Came here for dinner on a Sunday after swimming in the Aare all afternoon during the summer. We had no reservations, and the restaurant was all booked up, but got a table under the condition that we finish in time for a later reservation to have the table. The service was prompt, and there was more than enough time for... More

Nice location and ambiance. Good beers. But any person who actually lives in Berne knows not to eat in there, because the waiters are rude and the food is terrible. I get the impression they don't care what the guests think...as most of them are bus loads of tourists who're just in there coz they were dropped off by the... More

Dear Bubel Thank you for the time you have taken to writing us. We are happy you like our beer and the ambiance in the restaurant. We do have a lot of tourists through the day, thats correct but for dinner or banquets, for example, our guests are locals. So, we apologize that you didn’t enjoy your stay neither the... More

Traditional Swiss food with very high quality. Very polite and friendly staff who gave me useful recommendations. The price is definitely fair too. I will go there again for sure.

A great place to meet and enjoy the last rays of evening sun outside on the terrace. Meals are good but overpriced: The service by student waiters is friendly and the atmosphere uncomplicated. It can be a bit hectic at times, so book in advance as it can be very difficult to get a table.

We just stopped for a coffee and then we realized we were in a brewery, so we've changed our mind. It's a historic building, a big place and I would say a touristic spot (because it's very close to one of the city's attraction). We've chosen the small "Sampler", with 3 kinds of beer: Helles, Märzen and Weizen, it was... More

Situated at the bear pit end of Bern, along with a tourist office and souvenir shop, the bar area inside was far too noisy for a pleasant sit, so took to the tables outside above the park, river and bear pit for a drink ...since this was a Saturday it was popular with late lunchers, but I needed only a...
